This November many of us will cast our vote for Virginia’s Chief Executive in addition to other state and local offices. As an “off” election cycle voter turnout has historically been low which is unfortunate because in many ways these public servants have more impact on your day-to-day lives than those who typically serve in our nation’s capital.
Out of all of those who are seeking your vote one stands out as the perennial American success story – Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears. Ms. Sears was originally a native of Kingston, Jamaica immigrated to the United States at the age of six. To show her gratitude to her new nation she then proudly served her county in the United States Marine Corps – Semper Fidelis “Always Faithful”– and remains to this day imbued with the strong ethos of the Corps.
A former program manager for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and VISTA volunteer, Winsome is a trained electrician and successful businesswoman. However, she is most proud of her community work leading a men’s prison ministry and as director of a women’s homeless shelter. In short, she has paid her dues by working steadily up the ladder and serving those in the community.
Ms. Sears was first elected in 2002 to a majority Black House of Delegates district, a first for a Republican in Virginia since 1865. She is the first female Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the first Black female elected to statewide office. As Lieutenant Governor, she presides over the Senate where during the initial session some prankster hid her gravel and without missing a beat, she used her shoe and promptly called our lawmakers into session demonstrating not only her moxie but her no nonsense approach to serving the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Lieutenant Governor Sears has been a key player in the renaissance of Virginia under Republican Governor Glenn Younkin. We have seen our state income taxes lowered, a dramatic increase in corporations and businesses that have flocked back to the Old Dominion, and our children’s primary and secondary school education Ms. Sears was first elected in 2002 to a majority Black House of Delegates district, a first for a Republican in Virginia since 1865. We have seen our state income taxes lowered, a dramatic increase in corporations and businesses that have flocked back to the Old Dominion, and our children’s primary and secondary school education markedly improve. In short, a government that is accountable to the people, for the people, and by the people. The election of Ms. Sears as our state’s Chief Executive will ensure that we continue to move forward and set the standard for the nation.
Sears would be the first Black female governor in the United States, and she recognizes the importance of potentially making history but says the job is about much more than that.
“Of course, becoming the first woman elected as governor of Virginia would be a profound honor and a significant milestone in our Commonwealth’s history, but leadership is about actions and results, not just making history,”
“The people want to know ‘Do you see me? Do you know me? Do you understand what I’m going through?’ Because in America we elect our leaders from among us, not from above us,” Sears continued. “My commitment is to ensure that every Virginian has the opportunity to thrive, and I hope my journey inspires others to pursue their aspirations, regardless of the obstacles they may face.”
The choice this November is easy – Winsome Sears is indeed not only the logical but the RIGHT choice to be your next governor! |

Winsome Sears, the logical choice too sentient governorship this November.
I took my pills today and am a Democrat now.
I wish Winsome would play the race card like the Democrats do….Democrats accuse Republicans the reason they vote against a black candidate is because they are racist!
She did play the race card, when it was self serving, against a Republican, Corey Stewart.
Spot on! She has my absolute endorsement and support. She is the only logical choice for freedom in Virginia.
Thank you Sir and concur all !
