Governor Northam wants to eliminate our annual vehicle safety inspections while increasing our gas tax by 4 cents a gallon per year for the next 3 years. (This from the Governor who is so concerned about our safety he wants to begin gun confiscation.)
The Governor claims these inspections don’t keep us any safer on the roads. However, one out of five annual car inspections fails. Many of these cars have a ‘critical’ problem that prevents them from even leaving the inspection station. Such failures include steering and brakes.
Virginia Automotive Association estimates more than 1 million unsafe cars will be on Virginia’s roads if the vehicle safety inspection is eliminated. That’s what our Governor is proposing, unsafe cars on the road and guns confiscated from law-abiding citizens. Which kills more of our citizens? Cars or guns? I think we all recognize that far more people are killed in car accidents than those who are killed by homicides with guns. Failing brakes and bad steering will certainly add to those vehicle deaths.
