Today Christopher Newport Wason Center released a new poll today showing Northam up over Gillespie 50% to 43%. Just two days ago, Hampton University poll showed the opposite, Gillespie up by 8%.
Today’s poll also showed LG candidate Justin Fairfax over Jill Vogel by 47% to 44%, well within the margin of error. In the race for Attorney General, Mark Herring leads John Adams 49% to 44% with Adams continuing to move up while Herring moves down.
From the CNU poll’s summary:
As we approach Election Day and the structure of the likely electorate becomes clearer, the advantage appears to be opening up for the Democratic ticket,” said Rachel Bitecofer, assistant director of the Wason Center. “We’re also seeing mounting evidence of a Trump effect at the top of the ticket.
There is NO evidence that this is true and poll offers none.
The big flaw can be seen in the poll’s demographics. 69% of the people polled had a college degree or better. The US census tells only 36.3% of the population of Virgina has a college degree or higher. This is why all the polls were wrong about Trump. Pollsters like to over poll the highly educated. CNU has just done the same thing, making this poll less than valid.
