The incorrect decision by the Supreme Court in 1973 to make abortion legal in all 50 states will be overturned with the issue being returned to the states. The federal government will no longer be involved. The initial draft majority opinion of the Supreme Court was written by Justice Samuel Alito.
Justice Alito was joined by 4 other justices, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett in support of overturning Roe v Wade. Three justices opposed the decision, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. It is not known how Chief Justice John Roberts will vote or if he will issue his own opinion.
From politico.com:
The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision Planned Parenthood v. Casey that largely maintained the right. Roe was egregiously wrong from the start, Alito writes.
We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled, he writes in the document, labeled as the Opinion of the Court. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the peoples elected representatives.
This ruling will throw abortion back to each state to decide, with no federal protection, just like every other medical procedure. Some states have already banned the procedure, and more will follow.
No other Supreme Court opinion draft has ever been leaked. It seems the left hopes the leak can cause enough political pressure to be put on the Court to change their opinion before it becomes law. Pray for our Justices to remain safe and strong.
