Green Party candidate for President, Jill Stein, is asking for recounts of the votes in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. She has raised $5 million of the $7 million needed to pay for recounts in those states.
On Friday afternoon, just before the deadline, Stein filed her request for a recount with election officials in Wisconsin. The state has agreed to perform a statewide recount.
Michigan has finally declared Trump to be the winner of their Presidential election by a mere 10,704 votes. Now they are facing a recount of their 4.8 million votes. Recount deadlines close in Michigan and Pennsylvania next week. It is expected Stein will file for recounts in both states. Clinton lost Pennsylvania by 68,000 votes and Wisconsin by 27,000 votes.
Stein only raised $3.5 million during her campaign for President so there are questions about how she has been able to raise $5.5 million for recounts. It seems obvious that Clinton supporters are providing funding, although Stein maintains her efforts are not intended to help Hillary:
“This is not being done to benefit one candidate at the expense of the other,” she said in a PBS NewsHour interview Thursday. “This is being done because Americans, you know, come out of this election not happy campers.”
Clinton supporters are taking a new approach to her loss with the mantra “She Won”. Hollywood types like “Avengers” director Joss Whedon, and actress Debra Messing, are leading an “audit the vote” campaign. They are demanding the Justice Department check the voting machine totals in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
“Demand an audit. Make the call,” Whedon wrote in a tweet to his 107,000 followers on Tuesday that included a photo of Clinton overlaid with the message: “SHE WON.”
It is extremely unlikely that the Left will be successful in overturning the election but it seems they won’t stop trying. Remember when Hillary and the Left were outraged because Trump was hesitant to say he would accept the results of the election? Now the Left is doing exactly that, refusing to accept the results of the election.
UPDATE: According to the Washington Post the Clinton Campaign will participate in the Wisconsin recount. More to come on this breaking story.
