Several sources have confirmed that all nine Loudoun Supervisors will run for re-election next year including Scott York for Chairman of the board. All Loudoun supervisors are republicans as are all five Constitutional Officers. York will be challenged for the republican nomination. At least two conservative republicans have expressed an interest in running against him. York has said that he will not run as an independent should he lose a republican challenge in a convention or primary. Of course that could change. York has run as an independent many times since he was first elected chairman in 1999 York has the support of at least 6 of the current supervisors but he is not well liked by most republican activists in the county.
All five of Loudoun’s Constitutional Officers are also running again next year. Sheriff Mike Chapman will face challengers. Former Sheriff Steve Simpson, among others, is considering another run. Things have not always run smoothly in the Sheriff’s office over the last few years and many deputies would like to see him replaced. The board of Supervisors has also disagreed with the actions of the Sheriff, on more than one occasion. In 2011 all of Loudoun’s Constitutional Officers supported Chapman’s election for Sheriff. That will not be the case in 2015.
2015 will be an exciting political year in Loudoun, as are most years in Loudoun county!
