We tried to tell you…
Some of us knew Metro to Loudoun was a stupid idea and those who didn’t are now asking all of us to pay more and more and more to keep this 19th century mode of transportation up and running.
Facing huge deficits of $750 million, some on the Metro board are proposing a 25% increase in fares and an extension of weekend hours, beginning July 1st. That would make some rides $7.50 one way. That means commuters from Loudoun to DC would pay $15 round trip, plus an additional $5-6 for parking. The trip takes 90 minutes on a subway with no bathrooms and no eating or drinking permitted. So the ride is long, boring, and expensive. (It would seem this increase in fares would make for even fewer riders.) Bus fares would also increase from $2 to $2.50.
Or they can increase our taxes to try to cover their huge deficit. That’s up to Virginia’s General Assembly.

Very interesting how we the people of NOVA are paying for DC’s and Maryland’s transport system. Yes we have a little bit of the Metro in NOVA, but it isn’t as serviced or valued as the areas in DC and Maryland. It is really funny how the BOS members voted for this money pit to so call save money and make income from people coming from the city to the suburbs. We can all thank Ken Reid for his so wonderful programmatic conservative ways, as the one vote to approved Loudoun County’s involvement in this losing cause. It is awful to see this continue, but Loudoun and NOVA is paying for others costs. It is shameful, but as I have said many time before, we were played and the so call Republicans help to get it stuffed in paying for everyone.
