No, it’s not April Fools’ Day and this is not a joke. Last weekend Scott York made the decision(again) that he would not run for re-election as Chairman of the Board in Loudoun. Now Firewallnova.com is reporting that Shawn Williams is running for the position. [read_more]
Williams was serving as Vice Chairman of the board under Scott York. He stepped down as Vice Chairman when his background of abuse and drunk driving came to light but he remained on the board representing Broad Run district.
Earlier this year Williams was running for chair until revelations about his past caused him to abandon his candidacy. It seems Williams has had a change of heart and will re-entered the race as an Independent against three other candidates, Charles King the Republican nominee, Phyllis Randall the Democrat nominee, and Tom Bellanca a Democrat who is running as an Independent.
I very much agree with Senator Dick Black’s opinion on a run for chair by Shawn Williams,
“I think for him to run in light of his past problems is entirely inappropriate.”
Shawn Williams should not be sitting on the Board of Supervisors much less running for Chairman. We hope he will again abandon this foolish quest. If Williams continues with this ill-fated run it will be harmful to all the Republican candidates in Loudoun.
