Virginians have an election every single year from local to state to federal races. This year is unique with an upcoming September 9th Special Election to fill the vacant 11th Congressional district seat right before the November General election to select the House of Delegates, Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General.
On Saturday, Republicans have the once in a several decade chance to reclaim the 11th Congressional District through selecting the best candidate who can win in September.
Here are the GOP Canvass details:

With the exception of Mike Van Meter, 6 candidates are new onto the scene. One of them didn’t bother to show up to the recent candidate forums on Sunday and Monday. It’s the same candidate that declared he would spend $2 million on the general campaign. What was that Beatles song, “Can’t buy me love” I believe? Well, you can’t buy my vote either.
Just showing up when there is perceived blood in the water with the Democrats and offering to throw money around – or claiming to be “mission ready” when you haven’t interacted with voters – that’s not going to work in September.
It’s time the 11th District demanded our next representative commit to a set of principles that would best serve all of us in the House of Representatives. As we’ve seen in the current GOP in Congress, many have forgotten the reasons for last November’s sweeping GOP victory across the country. Here’s what our nominee in this special election should pledge to commit to if they end up winning in September (in no particular order):
1. Vote to codify ALL DOGE cuts.
2. Support President Trump’s immigration policies.
3. Be able to support pro growth policies that contribute to a free market.
4. Attack the rise of “democratic socialism” and be able to defend capitalism.
5. Be intimately involved with the district and support the grassroots.
6. Be able to cross the aisle in a blue district and flip soft Democrats with a unifying message.
7. Vote to support a strong defense and a “peace through strength” foreign policy.
If our nominee can do these 7 things, we’ll win this Fall.
Mike Van Meter gave a valiant effort in 2024, and I’m glad he decided to jump back in the race this time. We’ve got a great slate of candidates that I hope can commit to this pledge and shock the world in September.

You say “It’s time the 11th District demanded our next representative commit to a set of principles that would best serve all of us in the House of Representatives.”
Then you move along with a set of promises that come right out of Trump’s mouth.
What is it: Principles that will help the 11th District, or, fealty to Trump?
