In my neck of the woods, Loudoun County, is Snickersville Turnpike (Route 734), a beautiful drive of 15 miles beginning near Aldie and Middleburg and ending in Bluemont. (Bluemont was originally named Snickersville.) The turnpike a rural road with gorgeous farms. vineyards and great views. The Turnpike was the first toll road in Virginia in the early 1800’s. The White Rocks Overlook and Sand Cave hike is one of the best and most interesting hikes in Virginia.
Floyd Virginia is a small town in Southwest Virginia on The Crooked Road, famous for Bluegrass music including the well known Stanley Brothers and the views around the town aren’t bad either.
Also in Loudoun county is Harpers Ferry Adventure Center in Purcellville with many outdoor activities including large zip lines through the woods.
Lastly, the Luray Caverns and the amazing Wishing Well. Everyone should visit the caverns at least once.
