Even in a public health crisis, with mask shortages, baby killing can move forward in Virginia
Gov. “Al Jolson” Northam signed an executive order March 25 directing the state’s health care facilities to postpone elective surgeries amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
BUT ABORTIONS CAN CONTINUE!
Buried in virtually all the media’s articles was this line (taken from the Richmond Times-Dispatch ):
” The executive order postponing elective surgeries does not apply to “patients with emergencies or urgent needs,” abortions, or “the full suite of family planning services…”
Each abortion requires surgical staff to gown and have masks, which I thought were in short supply. According to the Times-Dispatch story, Northam (a surgeon by training) acknowledged the inordinate amount of personal protective equipment (PPE) – like masks and gowns – that surgical staff has to wear and throw out due to surgeries:
Any area intensive care unit, where the most serious coronavirus cases end up, could go through 240 pieces of personal protective equipment per patient, per day, Northam said anecdotally. “He said the number accounts for the 10 or so doctors and others who would be caring for a patient around the clock, changing out masks and gloves, among other items. That explains why there is a worldwide shortage of the equipment, as states within the U.S. and other countries compete for available supplies, causing prices to rise.”
Olivia Gans Turner, President, Virginia Society for Human Life, said in a statement March 25 :
“While we all attempt to adapt to new rules to keep our loved ones safe from Coronavirus, COVID-19, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam still thinks it makes sense to allow abortion facilities in the Commonwealth to continue to kill babies!
“Abortion facilities are using up valuable PPE (personal protective equipment) every time an abortion is performed! Virginia’s doctors and nurses and other hospital staff need every one of these things if we are going to be prepared for possible outbreaks of more cases of Covid-19.
“Gov. Northam needs to be called to task for allowing abortion facilities to remain in operation at this time. Elective abortions are not essential health care at any time, certainly not now!”
Gans noted: “Planned Parenthood donated $3,000,000 dollars to his election campaign in 2017. Now is not the time for him to pay that debt back!”
The Virginia Department of Health reports that 15,381 abortions took place in Virginia during 2017. This number includes abortions performed on out-of-state residents but does not include abortions performed on Virginia residents in other states, according to the latest reporting year available from the Guttmacher Institute .
To me, that sounds like a lot of PPE. But even in a crisis like COVID 19, Gov. Al Jolson still wants baby killing to go on, despite the drain on precious PPE!
And, the Virginia Pilot reported Saturday that he is asking President Trump to devise a joint “national solution” to address the critical shortage of masks, gloves and other protective equipment,
“We’re all out there bidding literally against each other,” Northam said in a briefing with reporters. “Here in Virginia we’re bidding against our own hospital systems, other states and the federal government.”
Well, Gov Blackface – if you’re so concerned about the PPE shortage, why allow abortions to continue? I guess it’s not surprising given your support for post-partum abortion earlier last year.
The hypocrisy of Northam and the Democrats and failure of the media to even question his Executive Order exemption for abortion is incredible.
And, where is the outrage from Republican officeholders?
