An Open Letter to Senator “Timmy” French – Now is the time to fight

written by James Poplar February 9, 2026

Dear Senator French,

Thank you for all that you do for us in District 1  – it is greatly appreciated.

However, please let me be direct – I know by nature that you and many of your Republican colleagues reach across the aisle with members of the Democratic Party  to seek compromise for the greater good of the Commonwealth of Virginia. That is indeed admirable, but the Democratic Party that is now ensconced in power in Richmond has no intent or desire to compromise, especially as it relates to the draconian bills that infringe upon our taxes, immigration, and Second Amendment Rights.

Republicans have always been the more genteel and measured political party; however, the time for accommodation and compromise is over and your and other Republican constituents want to see Republicans in the Senate stand tall, be visible in the both news and social media and other outlets and push back as hard as you can. We are long past the point of business as usual …

With the Spanberger Administration now in power and the Democratic Party holding a majority of both houses in Richmond, the tables have clearly turned. Yes, unfortunately elections do have consequences, and I get that, but as we progress through the next four years, I suspect many on both sides of the aisle will not be happy with the Governor Spanberger’s and her Party’s stance on many issues. Although not always, Governor Youngkin did attempt to reach across the aisle and reach compromise for the good of his constituents. Unfortunately, I know we will never see Ms. Spanberger or your Democratic colleagues do the same in return.

I would urge you and all Republicans to do all within your power and as to oppose these measures and go head-head on the Legislative floor with those who by design want to what undue our forefathers and mothers have fought for these past 250 years to protect.

As you know in your District on January 21, 1776, in Woodstock, Virginia, Reverend Peter Muhlenberg delivered his famous sermon, quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1 (“To everything there is a season… a time of war, and a time of peace”) before declaring, “And now is the time to fight.” He then revealed his Continental Army colonel’s uniform underneath his clerical robes, immediately recruiting for the 8th Virginia Regiment and fought dearly for our freedom.

Well Sir, now is the time to fight by all  legal means necessary.

No. By nature and breeding Republicans are well mannered, genteel and refined. Unlike you and your fellow traveler comrades vent on destroying the US. You hide behind various pseudonyms in fear of being exposed. If you have the courage of your convictions use your real name.
