Last Friday Congressman Frank Wolf attended a fundraiser for Dave LaRock, the candidate for delegate in Virginia’s 33rd district. Congressman Wolf told the crowd why we should be supporting Dave LaRock.
I’m proud to be here with Dave today. We have a lot in common,” Wolf said.
“He’ll be a good legislator to help protect this area. Dave will be someone who will be an advocate for us,” Wolf said. “He is committed to working on transportation, to be a partner with me at the federal level when we come up with ideas and we can work in tandem.”
Dave LaRock said this about the Congressman:
“Congressman Wolf has been very generous with some common sense tips about how to engage with potential voters and that’s been worth its weight in gold,” LaRock said. “I am just honored and humbled to have the support of one of Virginia’s most respected public servants.”
Dave LaRock also had very kind words to say about primary opponent Joe May:
We were in a primary and we exchanged a lot of ideas and opinions, sometimes we disagreed on things, but just in campaigning for a few months I’ve begun to appreciate what 20 years of service as a delegate is. Delegate Joe May has given very generously of his time,” LaRock said. “He is a very gifted man with tremendous abilities and I want to praise him for that …I admire him as a businessman and as a public servant.”
Why is Dave LaRock running for office? He answered that question this way:
“You ask me why I’m running? The simple truth is my faith has instilled in me a desire to serve others. I have a business background and I think that is important. I’ve learned to sign the front of the paycheck, not the back. I’ve worked hard in my business and learned that is what you have to do to meet the needs of your customers. In 30 years years I’ve learned a few simple lessons. I’ve learned you have to listen, you have to plan and eventually you have to negotiate. You can come to the table and negotiate without compromising your principles and that’s what I intend to do. It is not an either/or situation.”
He also said he’s running to bring fiscal responsibility to Richmond, to curb the federal government’s reach into our lives, and to bring more transportation money back to the district.
Dave LaRock is a principled gentleman, always kind and gracious. He is also smart and knows how to handle our money wisely. He will do us proud in Richmond.
