“Defending Democracy” and Dodging Debates Don’t Go Together

For people who preach about “defending democracy” and “protecting institutions”, Joe Biden and the Democrats sure have a funny way of showing it. 

Let’s put aside for a moment the countless indictments of his political opponent; actively attempting to remove his political opponent from state ballots; the wide open border and scramble to get millions of illegal aliens to vote; calling conservatives a “threat to democracy”; actively going around the Supreme Court to dictate student loan forgiveness; the shaking down of foreign governments to send $30 million into his family coffers; and turning over $50 billion in weapons and supplies to terrorists like the Taliban. 

You can’t even defend your first term in a debate against the man you keep calling a “threat to democracy”? So you’re “defending democracy” and “protecting institutions” by staying in your bunker and not answering for your disastrous presidency to the American people? That’s some serious 3D chess right there, Mr. President. 

In order to “defend democracy” you have to defend your record, and Joe Biden doesn’t seem interested in doing that. In fact, he sees little to no benefit in getting out on the campaign trail, let alone, agree to a debate with President Trump.

Biden was asked this week about debating Trump. His answer? “It depends on his behavior.” This past week, Donald Trump said Biden must debate him: “It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account. “Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE!”

This is the last thing that Joe Biden and his handlers want. Exposing Biden to an unscripted debate with Donald Trump is like dangling a piece of pork chop under a lion’s nose while he sleeps – that bad boy will get chomped!

So, in the interests of running a Soviet-style bunker campaign where the defenders of democracy don’t feel like it’s necessary to campaign or debate, they will keep Joe Biden under ground for as long as they can without the wheels falling off. It’s a Weekend at Bernie’s campaign strategy mixed in with a little arrogance and a dash of distrust of the American people. Stalin would be proud. 

You don’t have to look farther than CNN Contributor and former Obama White House Climate Czar Van Jones’ comments in January when he said, “If I were Biden, I would stay hidden. And I’ll tell you why: He doesn’t inspire confidence. He’s not a great messenger for himself.”

And this is exactly what Biden and the people in charge of him are doing. The only difference is, they don’t just distrust their own candidates’ abilities to campaign. Hilliary Clinton barely campaigned in 2016. She didn’t feel like she had to earn people’s votes. It was her turn. It was supposed to be automatic. 

There’s a sense here that part of Biden’s campaign strategy isn’t just to keep him hidden because the guy is clearly falling apart. These people don’t feel it’s necessary to go out and earn your vote. It’s a disturbing pattern of behavior that goes back to 2016 with Clinton. 

And yet, they want you to think that they’re the ones “defending democracy” when they don’t feel the need to campaign or debate in order to earn your vote. They will dodge, deflect and hunker down to let their partners in the corporate media and the entertainment establishment go out and tell you the boogyman that brought us peace, prosperity and economic growth is the real threat. 

All while their Manchurian candidate eats his chocolate chip ice cream and defends democracy while he does everything in his power to circumvent it.
