(I wrote most of this post back in February. With the election for the House of Delegates in two weeks, it’s worth another read. Update on the bottom.)
Loudoun Delegates Dave LaRock and Randy Minchew are facing challengers from the Pink Pussy Hat brigade. Both of their challengers belong to the group Indivisible, a group opposing Trump. In fact, they announced their candidacies at an Indivisible group meeting in Clarke County.
LaRock’s opponent in the 33rd House district is Round Hill Resident and sheep farmer, Tia Walbridge. During the recent Presidential campaign, Walbridge was the founder of nonsensical sounding “Together We Will Loudoun”. Who knew Loudoun was a verb?
She and Minchew’s opponent both attended the Women’s March on Washington and it helped to inspire them to run for office. LaRock’s opponent at the March with a quote about it:

In case you can’t read her quote, Walbridge’s said:
The march was the most inspiring experience I’ve ever had, so many people reaching out in such a positive way, exercising their civil libertieres and making a united group effort to retake the moral center of our nation. I am so honored to have been apart of it.
Where has she been for the last 50 years? The Democrat party has destroyed the morals of our country! They have ruined our schools, killed millions of babies in the womb, taken God out of our schools and public buildings and encouraged and promoted all manner of deviant behavior. The Democrats have destroyed the moral fiber of our country!
The 33rd district covers Western Loudoun and parts of Clarke and Frederick counties. Walbridge will focus on the usual liberal issues, public schools and ‘equality’. In 2013 she bought a small sheep farm in Round Hill making her a supporter of the rural economy. From the Loudoun Times:
“I believe that all people are created equal and should be free to pursue their version of happiness and achieve an American dream that is uniquely their own,” Walbridge said in a statement. “Your version of the American dream may be a beautiful home in the heart of Purcellville. Or perhaps it is teaching your children at home and living a life close to the earth. Whatever your piece of the American tapestry looks like, I will fight passionately to support it, I will work tirelessly to improve our laws, regulations, and codes to help you and your businesses.”
Right. When did a democrat politician ever take away any regulations on businesses? She will only add more burdens to our farmers and businesses.
Walbridge finds LaRock’s bill to make educational vouchers available for special needs students “disturbing”. Walbridge supports only public education for all students, regardless of their needs. One size fits all. Educrats and teachers’ unions will love her because they always care more about themselves than the needs of students.
In 2013 LaRock won his race for Delegate by 23%. I suspect this year will be the same.
In the 10th district of the House of Delegates Wendy Gooditis of Clarke county is challenging Delegate Randy Minchew. The 10th district includes parts of Loudoun, Clarke, and Frederick counties. After the election of President Trump Gooditis said:
“I had been asleep,” she said. “I had been trusting that everything would work out OK. I’m awake now.”
She hasn’t fully awakened yet. Gooditis was inspired to run when she and her friends attended the Women’s March on Washington on January 21st. Here she is with her friends in their Pink Pussy hats, she is in the middle with the purple scarf:

Delegate Minchew won his last election in 2015 by 25%. I suspect he will again.
More on Wendy here.
UPDATE: At a recent debate Tia Walbridge was asked about Metro since it does nothing for the 33rd district and yet we’re all paying for it. Her idea was to have the state build a bike path to Western Loudoun from the Ashburn Metro. She went on to explain how that would increase tourism in the 33rd district. Metro riders could take their bikes onto the metro in DC, ride the 90 minutes to the end of the Silver Line, and then bike over 20 miles to Western Loudoun to enjoy our wineries, breweries, and shops. The Metro will increase tourism to Western Loudoun! Brilliant idea! After enjoying our wine those tourists can bike back over 20 miles to the Metro! What could possibly go wrong with this idea? We’re good drivers in Western Loudoun with much experience dodging deer. I’m sure we can learn to dodge drunken bicyclists too. Anything to increase tourism and find reasons to ride the Silver Line.
At the same debate, Ms. Gooditis told us she is ‘really, really, nice’. I’m sure she is, but there is no one nicer than her opponent, Randy Minchew, who is much smarter and much more experienced than Gooditis. Minchew works hard for his constituents as their Representative. He’ll never let them down.
The 33rd district and the 10th district deserve REAL representatives in Richmond and not these two, clueless, women who seem very nice but are not ready for prime time or the House of Delegates.
