So here’s the deal. Virginia Democrats appear to have formed a separate, special subcommittee on redistricting… that has literally never met.
The question that needs to be posed is, “Are Virginia Democrats incompetent or flip floppers?” It could be either or both, right? The opening weeks of the current General Assembly session have been littered with examples of the new majority not having their act together but we also know that the Democrats who once pushed zealously for a constitutional amendment that would end gerrymandering has all of a sudden fallen from its heights of importance when they were in the minority.
The point that needs to be made is, “when is this committee going to meet? Will it ever be assigned a piece of legislation to consider?” If Democrats waffle on the redistricting amendment, (one they’ve already voted for once), Republicans can’t wait to beat them over the head in perpetuity with this glaring example of total hypocrisy.
