On Tuesday the first transgender candidate in Virginia’s history won the Democrat primary in House District 13. Thirty-two year old Danica Roem easily won her race against three other candidates. There are only two transgender elected officials in statehouses across the country.
Ms. Roem will run against Delegate Bob Marshall, a 20-year incumbent. This will be quite a race, between a conservative Republican and a very liberal, transgender, Democrat.
More on this race here, here and here. The Washington Post already loves Roem and they are not fans of Delegate Marshall.
