Sunday was Easter, which is observed in one way or another by up to 2.5 billion Christians on Earth, but a number of Democrat politicians in their Easter wishes on social media seem to qualify saying “Happy Easter.”
Meanwhile, Sunday also happened to be “International Transgender Day of Visibility,” which the Biden White House and a number of Democrat-controlled governing bodies honored with official resolutions.
Only about 1% of the U.S. population is estimated to be transgender, versus about 63% of the population that is Christian (mainly, Protestant, Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox).
The fact “TV Day” fell on Easter Sunday is co-incidental as it “is an annual event occurring every March 31 since 2009 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide…” says Wikipedia.
But what the media are not talking about is how a number of Democrat politicians qualify their Easter wishes versus the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, which is a month long observance that began around March 11.
For example, former Virginia House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn, running for the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in the 10th congressio0nal district, stated this morning: Happy Easter, to all who celebrate! I wish you a day filled with peace, joy, and lots of smiles with your loved ones. Hope you enjoy this special day!
She ran a meme photo of bunny ears.
Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall, also a Democrat (and a churchgoer), wrote in her Easter wishes: Good morning Loudoun! To all who are observing, I wish you a blessed and meaningful Easter Sunday! The photo she ran with her well-wishes was a picture of the empty tomb of Jesus.
What, may I ask, is the need to qualify Easter wishes “to all who are observing”? I asked Filler-Corn to respond and she did not, Randall said she used this qualification for other holidays (Jewish and Muslim), and that is true (at least with Ramadan recently).
Filler-Corn, however, did not. At the start of the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, she wrote on Facebook:
During this holy month of Ramadan, I wish our Muslim friends and neighbors in Virginia and around the world a blessed time of reflection, fasting, and community. Ramadan Mubarak!
I don’t know why she didn’t say Happy Easter to the “Christian community,” but I did a Google search on this phrase “to all observing” or “to all who observe” and discovered it is NOT used by Democrat politicians for Ramadan.
The Council of Asian and Pacific Communities March 11 listed Ramadan messages from a number of Democrat members of Congress and all but “Rep. Debbie Dingell of Michigan qualified it to only those “who are observing.
To his credit, the Roman Catholic Joe Biden made no qualification in his Easter statement, stating in part : “Jill and I send our warmest wishes to Christians around the world celebrating Easter Sunday. Easter reminds us of the power of hope and the promise of Christ’s Resurrection.” https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/03/31/statement-from-president-joe-biden-on-easter-2/
I have two theories why Filler-Corn, a fellow Jew, qualified Easter and ran a bunny meme and didn’t qualify Ramadan in her Facebook post a few weeks ago.
Either she is well aware that a number of people who identify as Catholic or Protestant are not observing Easter and doesn’t want to insult atheists (only 13% of Democrats identify as atheists, but just 5% of Republicans, Wikipedia reports ).
Or, like that bevy of Democrat members of Congress I referenced earlier, are unaware that a number of Muslims don’t observe their holidays or their faith either.
Like all faiths, some people observe their religion and religious holidays at different levels. Some Christians observe Easter by going to church and others with bunnies, Easter baskets and a big brunch that makes you sleep for hours afterward. Many do both. Same goes for Christmas.
With Jews, some 40% in the U.S. are non-believers and many who observe the High Holidays and Passover in different ways, but I would never state “To all who are observing, Happy Passover!”
I have been issuing Happy Easter and Merry Christmas wishes to my Christian friends on social media since I first was elected to the Leesburg Town Council in 2006 – and also offer well wishes on Muslim and Jewish holidays. I also sometimes mention Diwali the Hindu holiday.
As an observant Jew, I have no qualms doing this, or stating like I did today “Happy Easter – He is Risen” although Christ is not the messiah in my religion.
In addition, as an elected councilmember and county supervisor (2006 to 2017), I frequently had to invocations before meetings and never once said “in Jesus’ name” and nobody called me on the carpet for that.
Likewise, I never objected to any other elected official using “In Jesus’ name” in an invocation.
So, I hope all of you (observing or not) had a Happy Easter, to all my Jewish friends, have a Happy Passover (observing or not) and for Muslims about to finish up Ramadan – Happy fasting whether you observed or not.

Oh, how awkward. After spending their Easter weekend rending their garments because President Joe Biden ruined Easter, Republicans might need to retract their outrage because it turns out, nope, he didn’t.
The story that had so many Republicans, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, in a tizzy was published by the Daily Caller last week and declared that the president had quite blasphemously and, the story suggested, for the first time ever in history, “banned religious Easter eggs” from the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll.
Just one problem, as the Daily Caller noted in its retraction of the story:
The ban of religious symbolism on eggs as part of the White House Easter egg art contest has been longstanding, dating back decades, and the Biden administration did not make any modifications to this rule. While the Caller did not explicitly state at any point that the rule was new, this additional context rendered the main thrust of the article misleading to readers, who could reasonably have come to the conclusion that the rule was new.
Oops.
Johnson is not the only Republican who was quick to jump on the now-retracted story as evidence that Biden—the practicing Catholic president who very regularly attends church services—hates Easter, Jesus, and apple pie. As congressional reporter Jamie Dupree noted, Minnesota Republican and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer used the story to declare that Biden “proudly leads the charge” in the “radical left’s war on Christianity.”
Raging about the longstanding rule that Biden in no way invented or was responsible for was only one part of the GOP’s weekend of rage. Many Republicans were furious that the 15th annual Transgender Day of Visibility coincided with Easter this year—something Biden also did not decide.
At least they can take some comfort in knowing that Biden didn’t personally destroy the sanctity of Easter eggs after all. Their heartfelt apologies will surely be coming any minute now …
wasnt Biden the first president to honor transgender visibility day, or did Obama and Trump do that, too? and, can you explain why Democrat politicians qualify their Easter greetings with “to all those who celebrate’/observe” whereas they don’t do this with Ramadan, or Jewish holidays?
Once again, Google is your friend (and will keep egg off your face)
“To those who are grieving during this time of war, I hear you, I see you, and I pray you find solace in your faith, family, and community. And to all who are marking the beginning of Ramadan tonight, I wish you a safe, healthy, and blessed month. Ramadan kareem”
**please note: “to all who are marking”
It’s really not that hard to verify facts and not embarrass yourself or those that follow you.
Where can I find a 365 day a year Christian or Jew these days? Do holidays only continue to exist because of money spent? “They” want your money. Don’t those claiming to be Christians, Muslims, Jews, spend 365 days a year killing each other all over the planet, do they not? Biden, Trump, Netanyahu, are the biggest scum on the planet, correct? I do not know who leads the Muslims so I can’t say anything about someone I do not know, can I? The USA cannot even get their mail delivered anyone. See front page, Richmond Times Dispatch, March 31, April 1st, front page headline. This country is a law and order wasteland. where corruption rules the day and Fentanyl rules the night.
Happy March 31, to all who celebrate…
🖍️National Crayola Crayon Day,
🇫🇷Eiffel Tower Day,
🧪Bunsen Burner Day,
🏥Terri’s Day (Terri Schiavo),
🏳️⚧️Transgender Day of Visibility,
and ✝️🐣🐰 Easter, which falls on March 31 for the first time since 2013 (2002 before that).
Strange. The only proclamation I saw from the Biden administration was trans day – and it was also celebrated with government buildings using tranny colors. Obviously, all those other days were meaningless – including Easter.
The Bidens were are church on Easter as well as on Good Friday. Where were you?
“ Jill and I send our warmest wishes to Christians around the world celebrating Easter Sunday. Easter reminds us of the power of hope and the promise of Christ’s Resurrection.
As we gather with loved ones, we remember Jesus’ sacrifice. We pray for one another and cherish the blessing of the dawn of new possibilities. And with wars and conflict taking a toll on innocent lives around the world, we renew our commitment to work for peace, security, and dignity for all people.
From our family to yours, happy Easter and may God bless you.”
I’m not even a Biden supporter but a least trying just a little bit would help your/our credibility.
You idiot. March 31 is designated National Trans Visibility Day . . . or something like that AND March 31 is National Crayola Day, National Farm Workers’ Day, and a dozen or so other “days.” Has nothing to do with Easter. Easter just happened to fall on March 31 this year, something that has not happened for years and will not happen again in several years.
Easter is a movable feast of the Church and the date has something to do with the Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox, a day that’s derived from some old Roman celebration.
Strange. I don’t remember seeing any type of government proclamation and displays for national crayola day which is far more important than trans visibility. Somebody who hated Easter was naughty in the Biden administration.
