Inflation is causing Fourth of July cookouts to cost a record amount in 2023, rising by 11% from 2022, reports The Daily Wire:
“Average per-person spending on Fourth of July food items rose to $93.34 in 2023 amid persistent inflation, new data from a National Retail Federation (NRF) survey found.
The figure is the highest ever recorded by the NRF since the survey began in 2003, marking a $9.22 increase since last year when the individual cost averaged out to $84.12….
The report comes as Americans continue to struggle with inflation, which hit a 40 year high in 2022″.
In 2021, the Biden administration falsely claimed that the cost of a July 4th cookout had gone down by 16 cents, when in fact it had gone up, as the National Retail Federation noted, and data sets from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics showed. As the Daily Wire observes, “NRF found that the price actually increased by more than $4 from 2020 to 2021.”
Contrary to the Biden administration’s claims, “The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports a 10.9% increase in the price of consumer food goods from July 2021 to July 2022, the largest increase over 12 months since May 1979. BLS notes that ‘prices for food at home rose 13.1 percent,’ while there was a 7.9% increase in the cost of food away from home in the 12-month span.”
A recent report on food price increases from Wells Fargo Bank found “that the average cost of beer has increased by 8% since last year, while the price of an average 12-ounce soft drink has risen by 54 cents, or 14%. The cost of a pound of chocolate chip cookies is up about 14% since last year, while the price of bread increased by 22%. Prices for ground beef and pork chops showed minor price increases of about 1%. The costs of ice cream and processed cheese are up 9% and 10%, respectively…The price of potato chips surged 15% since last year.”
President Biden’s policies caused inflation, according to even Democratic economists like Harvard’s Larry Summers — who was Treasury Secretary under President Clinton — and Obama advisor Steven Rattner. As Rattner noted in the New York Times, Biden has spent “an unprecedented amount” of taxpayer money, which resulted in “too much money chasing too few goods.”

“President Biden’s policies caused inflation” Doesn’t take much searching to prove that is a blatant lie
I have a question that is on a different topic: What happened at the Virginia Tea Party “Summer Summit 2023”?
The VATP website is a lonely place with the only commentary being from one loon, Nelson Velez. All commentary on his ravings is blocked. A review of the “community” shows only a handful of Tea Parties and most of their sites lead to a 404 – Page Not Found.
None of this prevented Velez from reserving space at a Richmond motel and advertising that “Summer Summit 2023.,” complete with a speakers’ list including Rep. Bob Nogood For Anything.
The event was scheduled for a month ago yet nowhere on the VATP site is a report on the “summit.” Shall we assume it was cancelled for lack of interest?
Asking for a friend.
I respond to your comment with the words of Senator Fetterman:
