Republican candidate for Governor, Ed Gillespie, is proposing 10 debates around the state with Democrat candidate Lt.Governor Ralph Northam. From the Richmond Times-Mirror:
“Virginia faces serious challenges and real opportunities. Voters deserve to know exactly how Lt. Governor Northam and I will approach them,” Gillespie said in a news release. “A series of 10 debates all around our commonwealth will ensure they know the clear differences between us.”
Northam’s campaign responded:
“We are assessing a number of debate invitations and look forward to the opportunity to discuss the issues and choice Virginians face in this election,”
Well. That sure clears up their position.
Currently the only debate scheduled between the two gentlemen is July 22nd at the Omni Homestead during the annual summer meeting of Virginia’s Bar Association.
