Due process is the manna from philosophical heaven when discussing justice in a free society. The very essence of what the left has been arguing for decades is control of your life at the whim of the multitudes who know little about your life. Apropos to that truth, Justin Fairfax deserves to be taken seriously and have a fair shake at clearing his name.
Now I know what you’re going to say: what about Kavanaugh! What about the hypocrisy of the left! Well, ok; what about the hypocrisy of our own side if we let this man go down in flames to the passions of those who have no clue as to what actually happened. The court of public opinion is pretty much the opposite of what Locke and Hume meant in their social contract. It is much better synthesized by Robespierre and the Jacobin guillotine.
Accusations are serious and women should be taken seriously as these transgressions are all too common among men of power. We as men can do better. Yet to unquestionably accept accusations as tools for political expediency? Where do the floodgates cease to drain the endless reservoir of partisan rancor and lust for power?
Politics should never be about revenge. That’s what the left does, and two wrongs don’t make a right. Fairfax, unlike so-called Gov. “Coonman” and AG Herring, isn’t immortalized in some clear as day portrait of Lil’ Sambo mockery. Even as the brutish racial facepaint has seemingly become the new ‘business casual’ of the Virginia Democrat, Fairfax has not as of this moment been deserving of a public witch trial.
As not to appear ignorant, the most sordid part of Justin’s ordeal is his treatment of the accuser. He has painted her as a nut, over-stated the decision of the Washington Post not to publish her claim, and even lowered himself to calling her a ‘B****’.
