The General Assembly has been unable to pass a budget due to major differences in Medicaid expansion. From the Washington Post:
“We will not have a budget done by Saturday,” House Appropriations Chairman S. Chris Jones (R-Suffolk) said on the House floor.
This means they will need to either extend the session or reconvene in the future for a special session. Delegate Chris Jones believes a special session is more likely. The new budget goes into effect on July 1st.
Some Senators, including Bryce Reeves (R-Spotsylvania), are not happy with the actions of the House of Delegates. Reeves is upset about the House has failed to even vote on some senate bills. More on that story here.
