Democrat Ben Tribbett (@notlarrysabato) and others are reporting that disgraced, racist hypocrite Democrat Ralph Northam will resign the Governor’s office tomorrow, February 2, 2019.
This follows calls for resignation from Virginia’s entire congressional delegation, the Virginia House Dems, and many others. Curiously, fellow hypocrite State Senate Democrat Leader Dick Saslaw stood by Northam to the end.
Northam’s time in office will go down as one of the darkest periods of Virginia history, and presents a very important decision to voters in the November General Assembly elections.
Unfortunately, Northam’s rap sheet on race is long and well documented.
In 2013, while running against black Republican EW Jackson (@ewjacksonsr) for the Lt. Gov. office, Northam refused- not once, but twice- to shake Jackson’s hand.
In 2017, he deleted his own black LG running mate, Justin Fairfax, from his campaign literature.
In 2017, he also baselessly accused Republican Ed Gillespie of wanting to mow down black children, in what was clearly one of the greatest projections of guilt in Virginia political history.
In 2019, we find out that his history of racism goes back at least to the 1980s, when he was known as “Coonman”. This was also when he thought it would be fun to dress as a KKK member and in blackface (does it really matter which he was?).
It is worth noting that not only did Saslaw excuse this behavior, but not a single Democrat member of the House of Delegates condemned it before the Caucus did so as a whole.
What happens now?
Now, Justin Fairfax becomes Governor, and the President of the State Senate pro temp, Steve Newman, becomes acting LG until a special election can be held- likely in November, to fill out the remainder of Fairfax’s term.
But, there is a bigger consideration at stake for voters.
Clearly, Fairfax’s own failure to condemn Northam- either for his overtly racist past, or for his statements defending infanticide earlier this week- shows that the entire Democrat regime in Richmond is rotten to the core and needs to be replaced.
Of course, Republicans have our issues also. But none of us is as bad as this putrid regime and its disgusting enablers.
These are the same people who defended Northam, and stood beside him– just this week- as he defended his comments on infanticide, saying he did not regret them.
They are the same people who put up that horrific ad against Gillespie, in support of an ACTUAL KKK racist in Northam.
They are the same people who co-sponsored the infanticide bill- 21 of them anyway.
After chastising Republicans for years about focusing on social issues, they have become the party of racism and infanticide.
They also campaign against Dominion Power and Coal interests…. while taking in money as a caucus hand over fist from those same interests.
The Richmond Democrats are badly broken. It’s time to replace them, and make sure the Republican caucus in both houses in Richmond have veto-proof majorities. Make sure Justin Fairfax- Northam’s enabler and defender- does not get to continue this crazy train in Richmond any further.
Republicans, challenge every seat- especially the heavily minority seats. Make every Democrat wear the face of the disgraced fool they defended.
And then maybe, just maybe, we can save Virginia.
