Michigan has been another state with a GOP governor that has been considering Medicaid expansion under Obamacare.
Tonight, the Republican-controlled Michigan Senate voted to block it, by a 19-18 vote.
However, Obamacare proponents two hours later organized a reconsideration of the measure, whereupon it passed 20-18 after one Republican senator changed his vote.
While this is a disappointing outcome, Michiganders can at least be proud that most of their Republican legislators voted to block it. More importantly, they can be proud that their legislature had the courage to have this debate out in the open in a democratic process.
