According to VPAP.org, 1238 citizens have applied to be members of the Virginia redistricting commission. The final 16 members who are chosen will decide the General Assembly districts for 2021 and beyond, and Congressional districts for the 2022 election.
Of those who have applied to become members of the redistricting committee, 48% identify as Democrats, 18% as Republicans, 4% another party and 31% listed no party affiliation. They are overwhelmingly white, 76%, over 60 years old and with incomes over $100K a year. See more details of the applicant pool here.
