Republican Supervisor Ralph Buona announced this evening that he will not run for re-election to the Loudoun Board of Supervisors. Buona represents the Ashburn district. Tonight on Facebook he wrote:
Tonight I formally announced that I was not going to seek re-election to the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. When I contemplated first running ten years ago I set several goals of what I wanted to accomplish if I was elected. After two terms, I feel strongly that all of those goals have been achieved or are so far down the road that they can’t be reversed and future Boards will see them through. I can’t express how grateful I am to my wife Chris Radigan Buona for her unwavering support of my efforts and to Dorri O’Brien, my Chief of Staff for her devotion, dedication and very hard work. I love you both! Thanks also to all those who have voted for me through one primary election and two general elections and to all Loudoun and Ashburn citizens for their support and allowing me to serve. It’s very humbling. I also want to thank my colleagues on both the past and current Board. It’s been a pleasure serving with all of you. We’ve accomplished so much in a short amount of time and I’m very grateful to know and work with all of you.
