In the first three months of this year Delegate Nick Freitas raised nearly $350,000 in his quest for the Republican nomination in June to run against Tim Kaine in November for Senate. His opponent, Corey Stewart, raised just $220,000 during this same time period. Freitas’ fundraising for three months was comparable to Stewart’s fundraising for the last 6 months of 2017. From the Washington Post:
“This campaign is being driven by the grassroots,” Freitas, a state delegate and former Green Beret, said in the release. “With 5,373 individual donors, giving an average of $63.97, the men and women of Virginia have found a candidate who has a history of sharing their values in the General Assembly and will bring the fight to Tim Kaine’s liberal agenda.”
