In the wake of the recent tragic and untimely death of the site’s tremendously popular leader, Terrence Boulden, Virginia Virtucon has shuttered the windows and locked the doors…but they’ve left a light on.
We consider Virtucon our mother blog. Virtucon launched and supported us when we started out two years ago. And if Virtucon is our mother, I suppose that makes Riley, Hirons, TB and all the many others our blog brothers and sisters. That’s something of which we’ll always be proud.
What makes us even more proud is to have been a part of such vital source of news and discussion over the years, often brought with Riley’s unique sense of humor about very serious subjects.
Our favorite? The candidate recruitment efforts that culminated in finding that political diamond in the rough, Hamilton “Ham” Sandwich, Esq. Ole’ Ham had a great couple of runs, and we miss him. Hopefully he’ll be back sometime soon. (And if you don’t know what we’re talking about, browse some of the posts here, especially the older ones when Ham was on the national radar).
If you’re not yet very familiar with Virginia Virtucon, you’ve missed out on one of the most important corners of the Virginia blogosphere for a decade. Luckily for us, Virtucon is only on a hiatus for now. We hope to see them back soon, and better than ever.
