As a Nation, we are only two years away from celebrating the 250th anniversary of our founding. Our remarkable survival thus far has depended upon an informed citizenry.
Some people would argue that our citizenry is rapidly losing its collective memory to recall the foundational principles on which our uniquely American Republic was built and requires for survival. The teaching of Civics has all but disappeared from elementary and secondary classrooms, as has the teaching of courses in Western Civilization from colleges and universities.
The youngest generation among us bears a heavy burden they probably do not recognize, which is to shoulder responsibility for the future governance of the United States. A new book series will help them understand from an early age what makes our country so special.
The series is titled, Revolutionary Readers for America’s 250th Birthday, and Jane Hampton Cook is the author. Jane is an award-winning author, presidential historian, screenwriter, columnist and national media commentator. Her passion is to inspire patriotism.
Cook’s five-book Revolutionary Readers series is beautifully written and charmingly illustrated. Each book teaches a bit of history and reminds us of core tenets that lie at the heart of the American experiment.
Although written for children ages 5-11, older children and adults will find the books appealing for their simple yet profound patriotic messages. The promise of America still holds true today. Especially in times of tumult, we must fix our vision on the promise of what unites us, not divides us.
Jane Hampton Cook’s series will delight and teach our youngest generation of Americans. And it will inspire older generations to reflect on our nation’s remarkable journey leading up to its 250th milestone. You can find her books on https://janecook.com/, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
