Press Release today from Senator Bryce Reeves:
Senator Bryce Reeves Statement on Breaking News of MS-13 Related Murder in Albemarle County
FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Senator Bryce Reeves released the following statement after news reports indicated a murder on the Fourth of July is likely linked to MS-13. That report from NBC 29 can be read HERE.
“Just two days ago it was reported that the brutal murder of a 24-year old man that occurred in Albemarle County on the Fourth of July is likely linked to the gang MS-13. Revelations like these are becoming all too common and demonstrate the significant danger MS-13 poses. As a former detective and police officer, I know we need real leadership to rid Virginia of these killers – leadership we’ve been lacking in the McAuliffe-Northam administration.
“Instead of standing up for us, Ralph Northam has spent his year praising the restoration of rights for violent felons and defending his vote in favor of sanctuary cities that give illegal immigrants who commit crimes a safe place to hide from federal law enforcement. As murders like this happen in the region I represent, I am even more certain we need change in Richmond to protect our families. As a father, I’m certain we must work WITH law enforcement and not oppose their efforts to protect our communities.
“Yesterday, Ed Gillespie announced that as governor he will allocate $1.5 million to the Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force and similar programs across Virginia. I welcome Ed’s commitment to addressing this issue. Government’s first priority should always be to protect Virginians and equipping our law enforcement officials with the proper resources to combat gangs is essential towards that end.”
