It was only a matter of seconds after the (SCOTUS) announced its decision in the Students for Fair Admissions vs. Harvard College, which said that race can no longer be considered in granting an applicant admission before the left and the mainstream media started the hysterical but predictable cries of racism and injustice. In the majority opinion, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote, “Eliminating racial discrimination means eliminating all of it.” Race can’t even be used as one of several considerations.
House Minority leader, and election denier, Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), said the decision was made possible because of “right-wing ideologues” on the court. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also a Democrat from New York summed up her legal view of the decision with one word, “ludicrous”.
Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts opined, “An extremist Supreme Court has once again reversed decades of settled law, rolled back the march toward racial justice, and narrowed educational opportunity for all.”
Have you noticed they always claim the things they believe in to be “settled?” How convenient!
The left talks about the importance of precedent, actually they give undue deference to the concept of precedent. But according to the existing precedent, affirmative action was never meant to permanent. Justice Sandra Day O’Conner, writing the majority opinion in Grutter vs. Bollinger, in 2003, suggested a limit in time, “The court expects in 25 years from now, the use of racial preference will no longer be necessary to further the interest approved today.” But for the left state-sponsored discrimination is to be practiced in perpetuity. Discrimination practiced by the right people, government bureaucrats, and colleges can be a good thing.
President Biden even claimed that this ruling convinced him that, “This is not a normal court.” Yes, this court wants to follow the Constitution, so in a sense, Biden might be right. The day before the court released its decision, they ruled in another case, which denied the Biden administration permission to cancel hundreds of billions of dollars of student loan debt. Just wave it away. Apparently, to Biden this was another indicator of an abnormal court, that is a court that believes Congress has the power of the purse, not the President.
We will see what the fallout over this decision will be over time, but the first poll I have seen since the decision, conducted by ABC/Ipsos finds 52 percent of Americans support the Supreme Court’s decision. I would point out that Biden who described the court as “not normal” has approval according to a recent YouGov poll of 40 percent.
To be fair Biden’s commitment to affirmative action is clear. He campaigned promising to pick a black woman as Vice President, he picked his press secretary for the same insignificant reason. Carine Jean Pierre, if he picked her for another reason, other than race, I can’t identify it.
You may remember her as the one who referred to our neighbor to the north as “Canadia” and described herself as a “historical figure.” He promised to put a black woman on the Supreme Court, and when he got his chance, he appointed Ketanji Brown Jackson. She may not be able to define a woman, but she helped Biden fulfill a campaign promise.
However, what Biden did in these three examples is really beyond affirmative action, he adopted a quota system. To get the job they had to be black women. It was the central requirement.
Racial quotas are not legal in America, not counting political appointments which are legal exceptions, but what was at stake in the Students for Fair Admissions case was the question of whether race could be considered as one factor out of many. The 6-3 Majority said no, writing for the majority Roberts said, “The student must be treated based on his or her experiences as an individual — not on the basis of race.”
Call me naïve, but I honestly thought that with the election of the first black President, Barack Obama, in 2008 that affirmation action had run its course. Surely, I thought with his election to the top job in the country there would be no need for the program. Afterall, he won a solid majority of the electorate. America can’t be racist, or at least not enough to matter, so I thought and still believe.
But for the left race is everything, it is the fons et origo of the woke ideology, and virtually everything they believe in comes from this lie. It is the fundamental and unshakable belief that the country is racist, and from it springs so much of their beliefs. So important is the lie that it must be taught to school children, employees at major corporations, federal employees and ESPN viewers.
For the left to be a woke social justice warrior, socialist or Bolshevik; that is a member in good standing with the American left you must believe that America is a racist country. You must believe that the country’s founding was based on racial animus, or designed for the benefit of racists. Otherwise, the ideology of the woke will be so undermined that they will be exposed as what they really are; a bunch of frauds, pushing a bad ideology and a false understanding of American history.
America is not a racist country, most on the left probably know it but for ideological reasons, they have to push the false narrative that America is a racist country. That can’t be challenged. So, when the Supreme Court rules in a way that seems to undermine that believe the left must attack them. The court must be “extremist”, and “not normal”, full of “Right-wing ideologues.”
In watching the news media, which is the media arm of the American left, moan and whine about the supreme court’s decision ending affirmative action, which stops elite colleges from discriminating on the basis of race, I was reminded of a study of public schools in Baltimore Maryland. It seems 93 percent of students between 4th and 8th grade are not proficient in math. And a majority of students are not proficient at reading. Not to pick on Baltimore and I have no doubt that many if not most of America’s major school system are underperforming.
But I doubt the mainstream media will mention it. Doesn’t fit their agenda. Perhaps for them, it’s more fun talking about the kids going to Harvard.

“America is not a racist country” I don’t believe that for a minute
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court left a loop hole so the Harvards of the world will just continue with discrimination using another tactic. Damn shame that the Ivy League is discriminating against merit and is in favor of racism.
