Apologies to those of our readers who missed us overnight as we went down for a few hours to launch our new format. We hope you like it.
In addition to the updated styling, there are a couple of key features to the new design.
First, we have added an “Instapundit-style” microblog section immediately below the top section of the front page. This section allows us to dash off a few quick thoughts when we don’t have a lot of time to write a thorough post (which for several of us is quite often). We think this will help us provide not just more content, but more varied content as well, as there are simply some topics that don’t call for more than a line or two and a link.
Second, we’ve customized a few content areas. In addition to the regular Virginia-centric political content on the main page, we’ve also segregated items with particular saliency on a local level in Northern Virginia so that folks from the rest of the state don’t have to bother with it. We’ll also be collecting more non-political posts under the rubric of “Fun Stuff” for those rare times when we’re not in the mood to talk politics.
PLEASE BEAR WITH US as we work out some unanticipated nits in the styling. Most of you not looking with a critical eye won’t notice them, but others will. Rest assured that we know they’re there and will have them fixed shortly.
