The Climate Scam Won’t End Until We End It

This is the type of insanity that passes for serious science and policy from bureaucrats who can only create chaos – nothing of value.

If more proof is needed that progressivism in all of its various forms is a self-inflicted mental illness, the insanity of the climate change scam being used to loot public treasuries and erect tyranny should satisfy even the most tolerant mind.

 The only question left to answer is when a critical mass of citizens will grab rhetorical pitchforks, fill the streets, and say, “Enough!” Farmers have already done so worldwide, and the time is nigh for the rest of us to join them. 

The fraud began in the 1970s as global cooling and, you’ll recall, if you’re old enough, turned to the coming ice age. We were going to freeze to death. However, the prevailing weather patterns surprised the scammers, and their “predictions” had to be entirely flipped around to global warming to keep up with prevailing weather patterns. But that didn’t happen either, so the bad guys had to re-rename the scam. Henceforth, climate change. Now preposterous politicians, climate-mongers, and flittering celebrities run around in private jets proclaiming the world will burn to a cinder in only 8, 10, or 12 years – when ten years ago, they predicted the same calamities that didn’t happen. They move the goalposts faster than Taylor Swift can sell out concerts.

They then preached about the increasing intensity of storms to scare the pants off everyone. Now, that has quietly been dropped when intense weather activity, including hurricanes, typhoons, and fires, are historically fewer and less intense than the average. The polar bears are dying off – except they’re thriving, and their numbers are growing, not shrinking. The scare tactics never end. What has happened that the climate zealots predicted over the last four decades or so? Not a thing.

But, when you are feasting on trillions of public money with little to no accountability, it doesn’t matter that you’re always wrong. You just suck on the money bottle like a new baby does milk. If you must, you do it by edict and force of law – or outright violence – that’s okay, too.

Never shamed by the irrationality and unscientific basis of their “climate” policies, this week, the most corrupt and radical Administration in US history announced that the (unconstitutional, but who cares anymore) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published the “strongest-ever” vehicle emission standards that by 2032 if nothing changes, may result in standards that can only be met by electric vehicles (EVs).

So whether consumers care or not, in 8 years, the raw force of the federal government will be used to force EVs into the marketplace, trying to replace internal combustion engines (ICEs). A market that, as of today, has clearly rejected EVs for a variety of reasons, from initial cost, upkeep, and performance. (And the total cost of operating an EV may well be far higher than an ICE car based on “total in” cost vs. gasoline’s “total in” cost at the pump.) Not to mention EVs (as well as wind and solar) and their notorious battery construction are environmentally destroying huge swaths of land, exploiting child labor – mostly in the third world – and killing millions of migratory birds, including eagles, as well as whales – while enriching our enemies.

The EPA stated that the new standards would save 7 billion tons of carbon emissions – as if that even registers in an atmosphere that Britannica says has a mass of  5.5 quadrillion tons. Assuming the EPA is correct (they’re not), the impact would be less than 0.000008 % in the total atmosphere. This is the type of insanity that passes for serious science and policy from bureaucrats who can only create chaos – nothing of value.

 The EPA also claims health benefits from reduced pollution and billions in reduced fuel costs and maintenance. Not one single claim is valid, but who is checking? Certainly not the corporate media. The electricity used to power EVs has to be produced. That electricity has to be sent to powerlines across the land. Nowhere mentioned is the current electrical grid across the nation roughly has to double to accommodate that need if just 50% of the autos are EVs – costing trillions in new tax money. The fairy godmother doesn’t produce that energy – it needs power sources, and the verdict on windmills and solar panels already finds them wanting. Where will that power come from? It will have to be natural gas, oil or coal.

EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan stated that the department’s new regulations would “solidify America’s leadership in building a clean transportation future and creating good-paying American jobs, all while advancing President Biden’s historic climate agenda.”He also responded to Republican critics who refer to the new rules as mandates, saying, “You know, maybe some would like for it to be an EV mandate, but that clearly is not the case, when you look at the multiple pathways companies can choose to comply.”

What all duplicitous nonsense.

Everything these totalitarian wannabes do is designed to force people into the boxes they preordain. O.H. Skinner, the Alliance for Consumers executive director, stated the obvious. The new rules are a backdoor way of “doubling down [on efforts to] forcibly remove from the market a majority of the cars that everyday consumers currently buy and use.”

Mr. Skinner also disputed the claims that EVs would save Americans money. “While an extreme EV mandate might be popular in progressive enclaves [it ] will make lives worse for everyday consumers while costing them more for the privilege of having their lives inconvenienced.”

Across the first world, where citizens can afford personal transportation, most middle and lower-income owners live outside of expensive cities in the suburbs, often far from jobs with sporadic transportation options. Public transit money is frequently wasted on flashy rail or bike trail projects, which sound grand and work poorly at great expense. Travel times explode while train and transit tickets soar, making the car the least troublesome and expensive option.

But the dirty little secret is that widespread unrest is bubbling up fast across the world as normal, working-class populations realize the loss of their standard of living is happening right in front of them. And the people they elect to be part of a solution are routinely part of the problem.

Net zero carbon and carbon tax boondoggles, zoning out farmers and fertilizer bans, massive deficit spending to pay for dubious green projects, one-way trade agreements, massive illegal immigration, huge increases in the national government payroll, and supercharged inflation that have become the new normal, and housing affordability are all making a volatile mix.

The question is, do the completely disconnected political class, or ruling class, in the Western World even realize that no one is following them? Or will the Climate Scam not end until the people end it?
