Earlier this week, Mr. GOP Establishment, the Swamp Dog hisself, Mr. John Fredericks, put out a piece of propaganda so bizarre that it left me speechless. After picking my jaw up off the floor, and having chaired the September 6 meeting, it is obvious that Mr. Fredericks did not get his facts from watching the meeting being broadcast live, but got them from spin doctors who are trying to destabilize the 6th District Committee.
Because if Mr. Fredericks had been there or watched the live broadcast, he would have seen that there was no “sabotage” of Chairwoman Jennifer Brown. There was a reaffirmation of the 6th District bylaws, which is by definition not a sabotage. If Mr. Fredericks had been there and was intellectually honest, he would have reported that the committee overwhelmingly voted to authorize a donation of $5,000 to Corey Stewart and $5,000 to Ben Cline. And he would have noted that the only real dissent to donating the maximum to both Corey and Ben came from a Jennifer Brown ally. The Committee did this because there were concerns by the overwhelming majority of the members that the Executive Committee of the District overstepped its bounds by issuing checks to Corey Stewart and Ben Cline without authorization from the full Committee. I understand that reasonable people can disagree on how much power the Chair and Executive Committee have. But the fact remains that at the end of the day, the 6th District fully funded our candidates. Something that Mr. Fredericks seems to not be able to comprehend. (NOTE – Several originally thought that Skyler Zunk was the no vote – myself included – but we can no longer 100% attest to that – so his name has been removed)
It should be stated for the record, that in the absence of Jennifer Brown, who was taking a vacation, I chaired the meeting. And while there was tension and some serious concerns raised by both factions of the 6th District Committee, the meeting went well, and I was proud of all members of the Committee who participated. There was spirited debate, but no personal barbs were allowed and very few were lobbed. Don’t believe me – watch the Facebook live broadcast for yourself: (NOTE – you may be required to join a FB group to watch the video. https://www.facebook.com/groups/655163534870833/permalink/679188585801661
Mr. Fredericks also states that RPV Counsel is competent at handling FEC complaints on behalf of their committees. However RPV has not offered help and carries no insurance to take care of legal fees, something that Mr. Fredericks seems to conveniently keep forgetting. The 6th District Committee was named as a party in the FEC filing. So for Mr. Fredericks to keep repeating this blatant lie is little better than Barack Obama repeatedly saying that “if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor”.
Mr. Fredericks also conveniently forgets an even more important fact. Yes, Jennifer Brown convincingly won the 6th District Chair race. However, the same people who voted for Jennifer Brown also voted for the entire 6th District Committee. And in most of the 17 localities which make up CD 6, they did so overwhelmingly or unanimously. Jennifer Brown was voted into office to lead the Committee. Not to control the Committee.
Some will say that my calling Mr. Fredericks a “swamp dog” is too harsh. But if you listen to the audio/video below, you’ll see/hear that Mr. Fredericks is a classic member of the swamp, who now is more likely to support Democrats than conservative Republicans. One must say that calling former Governor Terry McAuliffe a McGenius is McStupid.
With all this being said, I would like to take a few minutes to personally thank Mr. Wendell Walker, Jonathan Comer, and Scott Seaton. Jonathan Comer is the Northern Regional Vice Chair of the 6th District Committee, Wendell Walker is the current chair of the Lynchburg GOP, and Scott Seaton was a proxy at the 6th District meeting. Scott’s wife Anne was one of the people who filed an FEC complaint against the 6th District Committee. These three gentlemen, who I have had several disagreements with in the past and will continue to do so in the future, had the intellectual honesty to thank me personally and publicly for running the September 6 meeting in a fair manner so that all could be heard and each stated they were glad to see that the meeting I chaired allowed for a full hearing for all points to be heard. There are people who are trying to work together to get the business of the Committee done, but we are being hampered by self-important hacks such as Mr. Fredericks who profit off the division between the 2 factions of the Committee.
An open challenge to Mr. Fredericks. Watch the Facebook video and post it on your website, for all to see.
