“They speak tough and carry no stick. They lie to you and tell you it’s a ham sandwich, not the cow patty it obviously is.
It’s bad enough that we’ve got a major political party in the US that has degenerated into an anti-freedom, anti-science, anti-justice, anti-growth, anti-family, anti-education, anti-child, anti-faith political apparatus that operates more like Al Capone’s criminals and gangsters than a political party.
But that the other major party – founded by Abraham Lincoln, for Pete’s sake! – has devolved into handmaidens to the gangsters in charge of the national government; that’s just heartbreaking.
Since the Reagan Revolution and the ascendance of conservatives within the Republican Party voter base, there has been a consistent refrain from so-called moderate Republicans that the party needs to soft-pedal or ignore altogether contentious social and constitutional issues. We need to “get along,” compromise, and talk like pea-brained adolescents so that everyone won’t think we’re a bunch of meanies.
The argument was – and is – that the American public doesn’t care about these issues – that it makes them nervous. They only care about Republicans managing bread-and-butter issues better than Democrats.
You’ve not only heard this refrain time and again from the Republican leadership in Congress, but it resonates through their dismissive attitude when they ignore action on the various issues they promised to address if elected.
These politicians, commonly termed RINOs (Republicans in name only), market themselves as “conservatives” to win office but, in reality, barely even qualify as Republicans and could be more accurately labeled mega-government uniparty members who care more about the “Washington Cartel and Spa” operation than they care about the truck drivers, butchers, welders, factory workers, farmers, retail clerks, plumbers, medical techs, computer techs, cops, soldiers, and other assorted “little people” who make America run, and who put them in office.
In other words, you. They don’t care about average voters. Their message is clear, sit down and don’t speak unless spoken to.
Space doesn’t allow for an exhaustive list, but you know who they are. And they even come from states you wouldn’t think would elect them – like Texas, South Carolina, and Utah, as examples. They speak tough and carry no stick. They lie to you and tell you it’s a ham sandwich, not the cow patty it obviously is. They plow through money like a pitbull does bones. Unfortunately, due to open party primaries and various other political machinations involving tons of cash and graft from lobbyists, these folks, once elected, are like acne – hard to get rid of.
And they hate the voter base they pretend to represent like Dracula hates Sunshine. We embarrass them. These “establishment” RINOs or uniparty devotees regularly show up on CNN, NPR, and other radical left cable networks to trash the very voters they are elected to represent. Worse, they rarely defend conservative and independent voters over their boiling anger at the non-stop destruction Washington is orchestrating against the lifestyles and well-being of average citizens.
More often than not, they join in the “official memes and slurs” that are now the standard talking points employed by the increasingly insane, communist-dominated Democrat Party apparatus and their lap-dogs in the mainstream media. Hence, everyone who disagrees with the uniparty’s full-scale assault on Americans is labeled a racist, fascist, homophobic, white supremacist, ‘science denier,’ and my favorite – a ‘misinformation spreader.’ It’s a long list of sophomoric insults parading as sophisticated thinking. (A general rule of thumb is the individual slinging these invective’s like hash-browns at the Waffle House has a flat-lined development of a twelve-year-old.)
The silence of the official Republican Party apparatus against these despicable attacks speaks as loudly as their absolute refusal ever to put up legislation to stop some of the insanity. (Lordy, they can’t even stand up against banning gas stoves!) They have no grit – no fight in them as a group. Perhaps worse, they hate the handful of actual conservatives in Congress and anyone trying to get into the White House to break some furniture and upset the Washington Cartel’s money-making corruption. Sound familiar?
I was witness to this firsthand in Ronald Reagan’s primary against then-President Ford, followed by his two successful elections for President. The same establishment RINOs treated Mr. Reagan in the same manner as they treated another President who came to town to change things – they twisted, trashed, and lied about him relentlessly and undermined his policies in every way possible. (Who can forget in the first week after President Reagan left Washington, the new administration – that owed their very political life to President Reagan’s choice of Mr. Bush as Vice-President, publically trashed the outgoing administration.)
Through the ensuing decades in conservative politics at the state and national level and in my own campaign for Congress, I’ve learned that the RINOs and fake conservatives would prefer losing to a Democrat to upsetting the Washington gravy train. The “don’t get involved” mantra is merely a fig leaf covering the in-your-face corruption of the uniparty.
In an interesting paradox, the radical socialist-communist wing of the Democrat Party takes exactly the opposite position. They consistently pushed the Democrat Party further out on social issue limb than many were willing to go – with great success! The process was a straightforward take-no-prisoners methodology.
And, of course, the radicals telegraph what they’re doing by claiming that conservatives are actually the ones doing it! For instance, former President Barack Obama just this past week did his part in “healing” the body politic by claiming on CNN’s “Obama & Amanpour” that watching Fox News or listening to right-wing radio skews facts and makes “people fearful of each other.”
Inverting blame is one of the golden rules from the late communist activist Sal Alinsky’s playbook, Rules for Radicals, which Mr. Obama has practiced since his days as a “community organizer” in Chicago. (By the time he started and planned his political career in Illinois state politics in the living room of the unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist and communist Bill Ayers, he had well-honed skills for pitting one group against another and creating chaos.)
Mr. Obama said, “It wasn’t that long ago that I got a lot of Republican votes. It wasn’t that long ago when John McCain was the Republican nominee and actively shut down a person at a town hall saying that I was an illegal alien and bent on imposing Sharia law. There is still a bunch of folks that are more politically conservative than I am on social issues, on economic issues and who I consider good people and thoughtful people, I enjoy conversations with. So the polarizations that we have seen in international politics is not identical to what is happening on the ground here.”
He added to his word salad, “What is true is that partly because of where people are getting their information these days, the silo wing of information if you’re watching Fox News, or following some right-wing radio host, or getting Facebook feeds within the bubble, the reality is different than if you read the New York Times or watch your [Amanpour’s] program. And such fundamentally different facts, or what they think to be facts and the worldviews are so skewed, one direction or another it’s very hard for democracy to work, and the foundation, and other work, and this kind of misinformation, not the kind that we see him [Trump?] engaging in, and not just during election time, but the constant demonization of the other side and making people fearful of each other.”
See? There are facts that they own, and everything else is misinformation. Thus says the man who set racial relations in the US back a generation or more. Amazingly this passes as an intelligent, sensible conversation today. What the former President is saying in so many words is that until his party has complete one-party control, the gangsters will always be accused of – being gangsters.
If you don’t think they’re coming for the First Amendment – free speech, freedom of worship, and freedom of assembly, then I have some “oceanfront property in Arizona” to sell you, to quote country singer George Strait.
RINOs practice the same techniques. The disgraced, losing former Congresswoman Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) – you will recall she was one of only a few Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump on what was then obvious and now irrefutably fake grounds – only this week told us what she really thinks of her fellow citizens. “What we’ve done in our politics is create a situation where we’re electing idiots. And so, I don’t look at it through the lens of, is this what I should do or what I shouldn’t do. I look at it through the lens of, how do we elect serious people? And I think electing serious people can’t be partisan.”
You’re too stupid to elect serious people like her – it’s not her fault.
Like the last years of the Roman Empire, citizens today are on the rapidly sinking ship of state without a life-jacket. The corruption has waterlogged all of our institutions. Equal justice is withering. The law protects the lawbreaker and punishes the victim, and murderers frequently face minimal consequences. There are no national borders, only suggestions. Faith is crumbling and is seen increasingly as hate speech. Sex is now paraded literally in front of little children and replaces personhood as an identity. Destroying what has come before us is now a national imperative. Nationhood is a passing phase – what happens seven thousand miles away is the pressing issue.
It’s bipartisan insanity.
The question for mere citizens begs, “Now what?” Regrettably, there is no magic bullet. We need a spiritual revival, that’s for certain. But that’s the sovereign God’s job that we can’t force, only pray for. We can force a beginning return to truth-telling. That we can control, and it’s the critical step.
There are some glimmers of hope evident that average citizens are catching on to and demanding action on various flat-out evil and insane public policies that overturn everything we can observe as destructive and harmful – starting with the hyper-sexualization of our children in the public schools and the irrational demands that we must pretend, on penalty of law, that what we can plainly observe in the natural order, is not true. We must submit to that which doesn’t exist.
A growing body of citizens is fed up and getting feisty.
Rome fell because its citizens were swallowed up by the corruption and stupidity of their institutions and rulers and overrun by invaders with no vested interest in the empire’s future.
We have a chance to escape their fate. But the time’s up – we have to get off the couch! We must start telling each other and our leaders the truth, regardless of the consequences.
If we won’t now, who will?
