Musk is finding Waste, Inefficiency and Maybe Fraud in Government Spending. I Remember When Journalists Used to Do That.
Earlier this week on CNN, (one of the Legacy media’s biggest dinosaurs), I heard anchor person Kaitlan Collins tell her audience, “We are less than three weeks into the Trump administration and already there are warnings tonight (makes it sound more ominous) that the United States is dangerously close to a constitutional crisis.” Wow, a constitutional crisis! Truly fake news.
By comparison do you know what the legacy media was talking about three weeks into the Biden administration? I remember, it was the filibuster rule in the Senate. To refresh your memory, that chamber was tied 50-50 in February of 2021, so Democrats would need to work with 10 Republicans to break any possible filibuster on major legislation. However, the Vice President, Kamala Harris, could break any ties in the Senate. With her vote Democrats could eliminate the filibuster rule if they all agreed. Luckily for the country a couple patriotic Democrat Senators wouldn’t go along with doing away with the filibuster, but the media pushed the idea as hard as they could, every day for a couple months. Why? They were concerned about Biden not being able to get his agenda enacted. Could Joe negotiate with 10 Republicans to pass Bills. The media had their doubts, and anyway they didn’t want him to have to compromise with Republicans. So, they pushed the idea to get rid of the filibuster. They claimed that it was a matter of Democracy. Biden got elected, and 50 Republicans might block his agenda, so the filibuster had to go. It was a mini crisis to them.
Now three weeks into the Trump administration the media is not talking about getting rid of the filibuster so that Trump can act on the mandate that the voters gave him. This time the media is concern that a President (Trump) might get his agenda enacted. So, the “constitutional crisis” deals with his efforts to cut waste from the federal government. It seems Trump and Musk are making progress. They are exposing two of the biggest wastes in the Federal government, USAID and soon the Department of Education. Both are sacred cows for the left.
What is the crisis? Well, two Democrat appointed district court judges, an Obama appointee and a Biden appointee have stepped in to temporarily stop Trump on his effort to go after waste and inefficiency. They question whether he has the authority to be doing what he is doing. I think Trump is on solid ground constitutionally and will ultimately prevail in the Supreme Court. Article II puts him in charge of the Executive branch. But the judges’ injunction has given the left some hope.
First it should be noted that there was only one constitutional crisis in our history, that is the one time where the Constitution failed to find a remedy. It centered on the horrible Dred Scott decision and the issue of slavery in the early 1860’s. And that break down led to a bloody a civil war. The war was followed by a series of amendments to the Constitution. Other than that, we have never had a constitutional crisis. But we are on verge of one now?
Well, where are these warnings of a crisis that Kaitlan Collins is talking about coming from? Only from Democrats. They are making the claim and CNN, and the rest of the legacy media push their narrative. Why is the media claiming such an impending calamity? Well, Joe Biden, the doddering old fool that they propped up for four years, is out of office. They mostly knew that he was mentally out of it, and they kept quiet. He really was just a puppet for the left and the deep state, and now that Trump is in office the deep state is under attack, and the media is in a panic.
Trump and his appointed investigator Elon Musk are looking into federal spending, which he promised to take an axe to when he ran for President. Note to the media Trump won. The American people want to slash government spending, certainly waste. You’d think the media, which claims to love Democracy, would applaud Trump for fulfilling his campaign promise. Certainly, the examples of what Musk has found so far are things that a majority of Americans want eliminated. For example, just from the Agency for International Development, Musk and his group found, that the agency spent taxpayers’ money on: $70,000 on a “DEI musical” in Ireland, $2.5 million of electric vehicles in Vietnam, $47,000 “transgender opera” in Columbia, $2 million for “sex changes” in Guatemala, millions of dollars to Echo Health Alliance, which was involved with the Wuhan lab etc. This is just the tip of the iceberg. My guess is that most in Congress didn’t know that USAID money was being spent on these things.
I watched the legacy media’s political shows last Sunday, yes, I watched the main ones, Meet the Press, Face the Nation, and CNN’s show, whatever it’s called, and all of them touched on the alleged “constitutional crisis”- seems they all got the memo. And I noticed that no one praised Musk for his work, because the Left’s new target is Elon Musk. They have to vilify him. Just today reading the news I have heard Musk being described as “eccentric”, “weird”, “immature”, “greedy” and “unelected.” Rep. Ayanna Pressley said Musk should keep his “Greedy and grubby hands off our government” and she even claimed that he is a “Nazi Nepo baby”, whatever that means, perhaps her constituents in Massachusetts know what that means. The New York Times is claiming that Musk is “infiltrating” the federal government.
True, Elon Musk was not elected, but he gets his authority from Trump who was elected and who is the Constitutional head of the Executive branch of government. It should also be noted that Musk is getting nothing to do this, in fact in terms of opportunity cost, that is time away from his businesses, the reform of government effort has probably already cost him hundreds of millions of dollars in wealth. I have heard that he is sleeping on a mattress on the floor of a government office building. I think Musk is genuinely committed to the idea of making the Federal government more efficient and less wasteful. This is usually called public service.
I remember a time when scoop reporters used to look for waste, fraud and abuse in government. They were celebrated. They made movies about such enterprising reporters. Now the mainstream media are defenders of the government. Seems the Democrats are the party of government and so follows the media.
They have an incentive to malign Trump, first because of ideological reasons, and also because they said he was a would-be dictator, and they would like nothing more then to justify their pre-election claim. Perhaps they feel that they can restore some of their lost credibility.
The President controls the Executive branch of government, his power comes from Article II of the Constitution. The agencies report to him, surely with executive power comes the right to hire and fire people who work under him. How can a President run the Executive branch only to be powerless to attack waste, fraud and inefficiency? It is true that Congress appropriates the money, but Congress never appropriates waste, fraud and inefficiency. The Executive decides the best ways to spend the money.
As of now there is not majority in either House that has claimed that Trump has overstepped his Constitutional authority. Well, such a claim would be required for a constitutional crisis.
Trump has said that he will abide by all court decisions, unlike Biden. But in the end, I think the Supreme Court will uphold his efforts to reduce waste in the federal government. And the media will have to come up with another, “constitutional crisis.”
I think the more hysterical the media gets over Trump the better he must be doing.

These ridiculous claims have become hysterical. Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation made the claim that the Holocaust was triggered by free speech. This idiotic commenter is a product of the University of Virginia. Apparently the extreme focus on black, lgb and Islam issues have blotted out world history at UVA. Would love to hear what she thinks about white genocide in South Africa, – probably cheering it on.
