It seems The Donald is beginning to catch on to how this whole delegate thing works in Virginia. On Saturday he will grace the Republican convention in Harrisonburg with his presence. The Washington Post is short on details other than Trump will be in Harrisonburg to court delegates. Will he be allowed to speak? I suppose that will be left up to Chairman Whitbeck and the convention chairman. Trump’s appearance will ensure our Republican convention will be covered by the national news. Be sure to get a ringside seat!
Further proof of Trump’s concern about Virginia is the office he recently opened in Alexandria. It will serve as Trump’s Northern Virginia and Washington area headquarters. The office is in Washington Square, 675 N. Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria. This morning several of Trump’s high-ranking staffers met there to plot delegate strategy and state conventions. Trump recently hired Paul Manafort to lead his efforts to get more delegates. In addition to his home at Trump Towers in New York, Manafort has has a home in Alexandria, close to the new Trump office. More on Trump’s NOVA office here.
UPDATE: A source with RPV has indicated Trump’s appearance at the state convention this weekend has not yet been confirmed, despite what the Washington Post has written.
