On Saturday in Nashville Donald Trump said he would decide ‘very soon’ if he will run as an independent.  He added,“a lot of people are going to be very happy.†(Does that mean he isn’t going to do it, or he is going to do it?) He must decide by September 30th if he is to be on the Republican primary ballot in South Carolina. (This has also been a an issue in Virginia, as we reported here.) More on the story here.

Today, Trump is running as the only thing that really matters. He is running as the leader for the Republican nomination in 2016. And today is all that really matters today.
Actually, he is running to suck attention away from any candidate not sitting on 200 million dollars. Today the question is will he run against Jeb now for the nomination or run against him after Jeb is the nominee in the future.
there was a news clip of Trump where he was asked when he would start big fundraising. He said he didn’t need it blah blah. But then he said once one gets the nomination, money will come in. Maybe this is a thin reason to think he will seek the Republican nomination & only that, but that was my take.
Of course he could also say that he wouldn’t run as an Independent and then change his mind with some excuse like “When I made that promise, I didn’t realize they were going to nominate (fill in the blank)” and choose to run as an Independent. The problem is in states like SC and VA, anyone who has run in a Republican primary cannot be on the ballot as an Independent. As important as Virginia is in this race, will Trump run anyway? I tend to doubt it because it would be a losing proposition if he knows going in he can’t win in Virginia or SC.
Trump wins by running and he runs by winning. He could bypass VA and SC for the nomination and take it at the convention while the buses circle.
