One of surest signs a campaign is losing is that they go after staffers of the leading campaign…. and do it anonymously.
This seems to be the case in an untrue attack on a McGuire campaign staffer, Pat Trueman, in the 7th District.
The McGuire campaign released this statement from Trueman:
Last week our campaign learned that the 7th District Committed had not rented Meadow Event Park for their July 18th Convention. In the course of their work planning the State GOP Convention, the SCC’s Ad Hoc Convention Committee had inquired about Meadow’s availability and been told that the 7th District’s contract for July 18th had not been executed and that the venue had availability for that date.
I verified this in a phone call with Meadow Event Park on the evening of Tuesday June 2nd. The next morning, Wednesday June 3rd at 9:02AM our campaign emailed 7th District Chairman Ben Slone asking why the committee had not yet locked in the location for the July 18th. He responded that “The 7th CDRC and the Meadow Event Park are working through the contract.”
It is preposterous and false to state we tried to rent the venue. Obviously, if the intent was rent it – we would not have informed the Chairman first –to the contrary – it was because of our email that the 7th District Committee finally locked down the venue. This was something they should have done THREE WEEKS PRIOR when they voted to hold the convention there on May 14th.
The 7th District Convention will be held at the State Fairgrounds in Doswell, VA (which is not in the 7th District), on July 18.
