According to Puckett’s son Joseph, Senator Warner called Puckett and offered to help his daughter with a federal judgeship or a job at CGI, a high tech company that Warner helped bring to southwest Virginia when he was Governor, in exchange for Puckett remaining in the Virginia senate to prevent Republicans from gaining control of that body. Warner has refused to say who brought up the subject of the judgeship or job during his ‘brainstorming’ phone call with Puckett. However, Joseph Puckett’s attorney, Chuck James of Williams Mullen, said it was Warner who brought up the offers.
It appears that only Republicans will be investigated concerning Phil Puckett’s resignation and the various offers he received from both Republicans and Democrats. Is anyone surprised? Did anyone expect that Eric Holder’s Justice Department would fairly investigate Puckett’s resignation?
