Last January 11, newly elected Governor Glenn Youngkin announced the formation of his Medical Advisory Team to be led by Dr. Marty Makary, a distinguished surgeon and public policy researcher at Johns Hopkins University.
Recently, Dr. Makary co-authored a 50-page study about the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines in young adults aged 18-29. Eight other experts joined him on the team which looked at data on vaccine adverse events provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and industry sponsors. Among the findings was that COVID-19 boosters may cause 18 – 98 actual serious adverse events for each theoretically prevented COVID-19-related hospitalization.
The study concluded that mandating these vaccines for college students is unethical and not supported by scientific data. The team urged universities and schools to rescind COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
It’s encouraging that this study seeks to protect otherwise healthy young people from known damage induced by COVID vaccines. Don’t even younger children deserve immediate protection from ongoing efforts to give them boosters?
When he appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show on October 18, Dr. Makary expressed alarm over the CDC ‘s decision to add COVID-19 vaccines to the childhood immunization schedule. Here is what he said:
“They’ve got data from 8 mice on the Omicron vaccine. There has never been a vaccine added to the child immunization schedule without solid clinical evidence that it reduces disease significantly in the community. The COVID vaccine in children will be the first added with no clinical data. And many of us who were saying, ‘Hey, let’s see the data,’ were basically told, ‘Stop asking questions.’ The CDC committee that’s voting, that’s basically a kangaroo court. You have to be an official card-carrying vaccine fanatic to be on that committee. …… Parents have a right to say let’s see some clinical data before we force this as a requirement for school.”
According to many reputable doctors (including vaccinologists and epidemiologists), children without underlying conditions have never been at serious risk from the COVID -19 virus. Since when are experimental drugs under Emergency Use Authorization added to the vaccine schedule of children who are not at risk for the disease? What is going on?
In all likelihood, the regulators are captives of the politically powerful pharmaceutical industry. When drugs are added to the childhood vaccination schedule, drug makers are absolved of legal liabilities for that drug.
In Fairfax County, the Board of Supervisors continues to promote COVID shots, even hosting a clinic at the Government Center. It is heart-breaking to watch little children led inside by adults who should know better than to expose healthy children to potentially harmful drug side-effects. It is especially reckless and irresponsible for the Board to advocate that children ages 5-17 get jabbed with a drug tested only on eight mice.
On October 19, a group of nineteen Canadian doctors signed an open letter calling for a “complete and immediate ban on the vaccination of children in Quebec against COVID-19” for several reasons: 1) “fully informed consent is not possible given the lack of perspective on this new product and the decision of the FDA and the manufacturer not to release all the information necessary for decision-making” 2) “the risks of the COVID-19 vaccine for a normal child appear to us to clearly outweigh the benefits” and 3) “There is a need to obtain fully independent legal and ethical advice.” The letter is a stunning rebuke to the conduct of government agencies and pharmaceutical companies over the way in which the COVID-19 emergency has been handled.
It’s time for Governor Youngkin and his Medical Advisory Team led by Dr. Marty Makary to begin a statewide public information campaign that will educate residents of the Commonwealth – especially parents of young children – about the known hazards of COVID-19 shots, the lack of standard testing and review procedures, and the withholding of related data by the CDC and pharmaceutical companies. This information is necessary for people to be able to give informed consent … or not.
And, the public needs to urge the Governor to take swift action to protect the most vulnerable among us: the children who risk grave harm from the latest COVID booster and repeated COVID shots.
