Bill introduced to add party affiliation to voter registration

written by Jeanine Martin January 2, 2024

HB 56, introduced by Republican Thomas C. Wright Jr., would allow voter registration by political party. It would also would allow political parties to exclude voters who are not registered with their party from voting in a primary.

Democrats in Virginia have long opposed voter registration by political party because it would prevent them from crossing over to vote in Republican primaries.

Details of the bill can be viewed at the above link. All House bills introduced so far may be found here. All of the Senate bills may be found here.

More personal data in the hands of government and more restrictions on voting.

Does not smell like freedom.

Just an another political stunt like Youngkin’s recent tax cut proposal since the Crats’ control both the Virginia House and Senate. Why didn’t Republican’s do this and the recently proposed Youngkin tax deal last term? Oh yea, just like Trump Republican’s didn’t end ObamaCare and didn’t stop illegals. Total BS.

” Democrats in Virginia have long opposed voter registration by political party because it would prevent them from crossing over to vote in Republican primaries. ”

And as we all know, not a single Republican ever has crossed over to vote in a Democratic Party primary.

What horseshit.

Republicans will have to move away from their globalists way & more towards America First to win future elections in Virginia.
I personally don’t mind this bill but find it extremely humorous that Wright could take the time to worry about someone who they may deem other than Republican from voting in their primaries.
The reason that I find it extremely humorous is;
is Wright also bringing an E-Verify Bill to the General Assembly?
If not folks that is a self imposed test into legislative credibility.
Could Wright only be worried about his job but not concerned with illegal aliens taking your job?

Lets hope HB 56 will pass . The practice, known as crossvoting, allows voters to opt for a rival they want a Democrat candidate to face in an election, or back a more palatable Republican in seats Democrats have little chance of winning.
