Delegate David Reid (D-Loudoun) will run for 10th district seat, Phyllis Randall will not

written by Jeanine Martin November 14, 2023

Delegate David Reid (D-Loudoun), fresh off a re-election win, has announced he will run for Congress representing the 10th district where the current Congressional representative Jennifer Wexton (D-Loudouon) is not running again due to health problems.

Eileen Filler-Corn (D-Fairfax), former Speaker of the House of Delegates, is also running to be the Congressional nominee, although she does not live in the district. (That is not a requirement for a Congress.) State Senator Jennifer Boysko (D-Loudoun) is also running. Until today many thought Loudon’s Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Phyllis Randal would seek the Democrat nomination to run in the 10th but she made it clear on her Facebook page that she will not. She said “Having spoken about the matter in great detail over this past week we have concluded that the best place for me and our family at this point in time is for me to continuing spending 100% of my time, energy and focus on the job that I love. As such I will not be a candidate for Congress in VA-10.”

On the Republican side only former candidate in the 10th, Mike Clancy, has announced a run for the seat. Clancy is an attorney and a technology company executive.

While Phyllis Randal has won 3 elections for Chairman of the Board of Loudoun, she has had a stroke of good luck with 3rd party candidates in the race. In her 1st and 3rd races, she did not get the majority of the votes. The majority of Loudouners voted against her, not for her. And her Republican opponent this time entered the race just 6 weeks before the election! She does not have good numbers and she has dwindling popularity. She just happened to have been in the right place at the right time.

If this is not a locked in Blue district, just curious why the Republicans do not dial up Barbara Comstock? She is or was one of the best fund raisers and mud slingers know to mankind.

it seem to me the Democrats are lookng at a bruising primary which could be good for a Republican. I think Hung Cao should give it another go vs. running in the crowded US Senate primary. He didn’t do a great job in 22 but i thinkhe could be better now that he has some campaign experience under his belt.

Just thought you and others would like to know why Congress says Ukraine needs another $60 Billion on top of the already $100 Billion, and Israel needs $14.5 Billion. Every time a camera is in their face, members of congress start out with more support for a banana republic, or two.

1) UKRAINE- Just found out today that according to the report I saw today, US weapons suppliers are having their K St. lobby firms lobby Congress on Ukraine’s behalf for more aid to Ukraine, free of charge. Translated, US weapons suppliers are writing checks to members of congress PAC’s and Campaigns, in order to insure the Ukraine disaster continues as long as possible. All legal, as usual.

2) ISRAEl-See link below for why Israel is so important to members of Congress, And, do not forget that AIPAC spends millions each year on vacations for members of Congress.

It’s all about the cabbage. All legal of course. Isn’t the real reason the US House refuses to pass a budget that Republicans really want another Omnibus spending bill in spite of their rhetoric? Yep, it is.
