The murder of Iryna Zarutska

Iryna Zarutska was murdered on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina by Decarlos Brown.  It is ironic that Iryna was a refugee who had come to the United States to escape the violence in her home country, Ukraine.  Decarlos was a career criminal who had been arrested some 14 times, tried and convicted for a number of felonies, and been imprisoned.  This straight forward story, however, has become a indictment of the national news media, the supposed justice system, and a culture that excuses black on white crime.  It has implications for the use of the death penalty.

The national news media has stonewalled Iryna’s murder story.  It apparently didn’t fit their narrative that white supremacy was always the problem so they buried it.  Iryna’s murder only rose to prominence because it appeared on Elon Musk’s X.com.  Once exposed, it was too obvious that the supposed mainstream media had colluded to be silent.  Notably, when it did hit a small part of the national news media (CNN), the complaint from said media was that it was about white racism not the fact that Decarlos’ act was intentionally a black on white crime – he apparently muttered after the fact that he got the white woman.  (There is a video of the horrific incident although the part where he stabbed Iryna is usually cut out.  Notably, you can see him casually unfolding a knife, standing up behind her, and then stabbing her in the throat multiple times.  This was a premeditated act regardless of his mental state.)

The Charlotte, North Carolina justice system allows cashless bail.  Decarlos had been involved with this turnstyle system of injustice numerous times and was currently out walking the streets when he killed Iryna on the train.  The judge who was the last to release him was well aware of Decarlos’ arrest and prison records.  There is some information that she had a business that supported career criminals like Decarlos.  In other words, she had a motive to keep him on the streets rather than in prison.  The Mayor of Charlotte, when confronted about this murder, blamed the system and its lack of mental and institutional care.  This is the go-to answer of the Democrats.  It is always the system and never their favored class of individuals.  Frankly, such an answer is a complete perversion of justice and leads to horrific injustice.  

Far too many times, the Democrat party and its media allies have chosen stories that make the issue into white on black crime.  A prime example is the Daniel Penny case where he, a white man, stopped a crazed black man who had threatened an entire subway car of people of all races.  The number of stories regarding Perry, who was eventually tried for homicide and then acquitted, was in the thousands.  Compare this to the Iryna case where the number of stories was zero and the complaint from Democrats was that the story had sparked a white racist reaction.  To make things worse, another white woman, Dr. Julie Schnuelle, a retired Auburn University professor, was recently killed by a black man, Harold Rashad Dabney III.  The Democrats and the media have been hiding black crime in general and excusing its impact on both the black community and the entire nation.  This is their racial justice narrative and it leads to unstable individuals believing they have a right to inflict injury and murder on those who they perceive as having done an injustice to them.  Iryna just happened to be in the way of an individual affected by this perverse idea.

North Carolina still has the death penalty although it is about 20 years since it was last enforced.  Virginia once had one of the better death penalty laws – and then the Democrats abolished it in 2021 during the term of Governor Ralph Northam.

Democrats will say that the death penalty doesn’t work because it doesn’t prevent murder.  This is one of those lies that don’t stand up to factual realities.  There are a number of cases when LWOP murderers have either murdered in prison or been released to murder again.  It will be interesting to see if Decarlos Brown is tried under death penalty statutes or whether he will end up being given a lighter charge and sentence because of “mental” issues.  (The Democrats have a problem here because Decarlos’ act is clearly premeditated and he admits his racist intent.)

You have to ask if there is any Democrat willing to standup for Iryna.  So far the answer is to blame white racism for Decarlos’ behavior.  If that seems too callous, Democrats blame the system, or the culture (which Democrats created and is seen not only with Iryna’s murder but in Democrat run cities and states.)

Note:  President Trump has said that he has seen the video of Iryna Zarutska’s murder and is horrified.  He would like to do something to prevent these types of murders and is looking into what can be done.  (It is clear that the National Guard’s use in the District of Columbia has been beneficial in massively reducing crime.  He is apparently positioning troops to aid ICE in Chicago.)
