Time for the Ukraine War to End

I was reading an article quoting former Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley about the Ukraine War.  For all of our many complaints about Milley, he was rather understanding of the subject of what Ukraine could and could not do.  And one thing Milley (late 2022) said was that “victory is probably not achievable through military means” and that Ukraine was now in a “stalemate”.  

Former President Joe Biden ignored Milley’s remarks, and went on with insisting the war could be won.  However in late 2023, Valeri Zaluzhnyi, the Ukrainian Chair of the Joint Chiefs, also said that the Ukraine war had become a “stalemate”, and that this battlefield condition ensured that Russia would likely win, because Russia could just turn the war into a meat grinder, and because of their larger troop numbers, Russia would likely win.  

President Zelensky thanked General Zaluzhnyi for his honesty by firing him in early 2024.  

President Donald Trump is being trashed by Democrats and neocons in the GOP for saying to President Zelensky these words “You’re not winning this”.  And “you don’t have the cards right now”.  

We can keep funding this, and keep destroying what is left of the Ukrainian nation. Russla will win, Putin will destroy what is left of the young Russian male population (and the Ukrainian youth as well).  We can send troops over, and risk a larger more dangerous war.  Or   

For the record, there is not one person in the Shenandoah Valley or Roanoke Valley who loves Ukraine more than I.  I’ve been there over a dozen times, and have several friends and extended family there.  It was – before Putin’s invasion, a beautiful country.  The people are amazing, and you will never find a kinder group of people as a whole than Ukrainians.  However, because of Mr. Biden’s going along with environmental extremists artificially raising gas/oil prices, the USA helped fund Putin’s War, and now Donald Trump is trying to find a way out of this horrible situation.  

Democrats say that you can’t negotiate with authoritarians.  Let’s agree that Putin is a disgusting pig of a human being.  But, how does one end this war?  By doing what Joe Biden did?  All Mr. Biden did was fund Zelensky’s pipe dreams of being able to win a war we can’t win without putting American soldiers on the ground.  Remember that only France wanted to send troops to Ukraine, no one else in NATO supported it.  

It’s time to end this war.  It’s also time for Democrats to accept the fact that their hero, Joe Biden, is a large part of the reason this war occurred, and for Mr. Trump and Secretary of State Rubio to ensure that the conditions never again exist for Mr. Putin to invade another country.
