Hope for a better tomorrow

written by Dr. Robert Warren February 7, 2026

Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote the musical “Carousel” in the 1940s.  One of the most beautiful pieces of music from that show was “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, an inspirational song that has been passed through the ages by many vocalists.  The lyrics are as follows:

When you walk through a storm
Keep your chin up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark.

At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you’ll never walk alone!
You’ll never walk alone

This song struck me as something Virginia’s Republicans need to remember as we go through this dark period in our history.

We are in a storm.  We are being buffeted by the worst of political winds.  We are rightfully concerned about our dreams for America’s future and the future of our subsequent generations.

However,

We are not alone.  We will never walk alone.  There is always hope.  That hope is in the heart of every American citizen who loves our country.

Chin up, Republicans, there will be a golden sky after the storm.

The movie was memorable & inspirational, and the Rodgers and Hammerstein team created a lot of good stuff. A part of the Carousel story was when a pregnant woman lost her husband and had to raise her daughter. She kept her chin up and worked hard for her only child’s future.

The lyrics are unforgettable and inspirational.

It is a high value reference in keeping up your chin in hard times. I have seen a few. Nevertheless, working hard for a better future is one of the better ways to deal with difficult things in life.

RPV elects new chairman, civil war ensues.

One big happy family in the Virginia Republican Party, as the chairman of the Loudoun GOP (Scott Pio) rips the newly elected Virginia GOP Chair (Jeff Ryer; on a vote of 42-34 over Nicholas Proffitt):

QUOTE
“The guy that made over $1,800,000 MILLION DOLLARS off our candidates has also just been appointed as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.
I’m so glad that we just placed another consultant at the top of the Republican Party of Virginia!
At least he can make more money than he ever has sitting in this position while the rest of the other consultants will get their take too!
My only hope is that he will add as many consultants as he can to the State Central Committee so they can continue to charge our candidates 90% margins!
Jeff is the perfect candidate for the job due to his willingness to make sure all of his conflicts of interest have been filed appropriately!
Great Job Jeff! Truly looking forward to the next two years!
END QUOTE
