Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA7) has told fellow Democrat leaders in her district that she will not run for Congress next year but will run for Governor the following year, 2025. She will be announcing her run for Governor early next week.
Democratic Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney is expected to make a similar announcement before the end of the year.
On the Republican side it is expected that Lt Governor Winsome Sears and Attorney General Jason Miyares will run for Governor.
More candidates expected on both sides.

If that election were tomorrow, guess who would be picking colors for their new home at the governors mansion? Election after election, big money has throw everything they got at Spanberger to flip her district red. And they have stuck out each and every time. Teflon Abigail? This, in spite of her being a Pelosi disciple of disaster. Former Va. Congresswoman Luria went down in flames following Pelosi. But somehow, Spanberger made it work.
The overturn of Roe/Wade, along with Donald Trump icing camouflaging a dung cake, has flipped Virginia blue for another decade or even longer.
The good news? I cannot find any faults with the new speaker of the US House except that he supported Trump with some type of legal brief during the attempted overthrow of Democracy, with those allegations of a rigged election. I expect if he really tries to practice Christianity as Speaker, he will be ejected in short order. The anti-Christ movement is simply not going to tolerate anybody who really believes in Jesus and has the “fruits” to prove it. Not a chance of that being allowed for long in my opinion.
