The word “assassination” is derived from an ancient Islamic word “hashshashiin”. Nazari Isma Illyyah, from whence the word came, was an 11th century Shia sect noted for the assassination of military and political opponents. Today, assassination applies to any politically motivated murder. The murder of Charlie Kirk clearly is an assassination.
I did not know Charlie Kirk other than by his reputation as a crusader for Christian ideas and ideals. He was fearless in going to colleges to talk to and debate with students. He was constantly confronted by the radical left but he was also very effective in preaching the values of Christianity. He was so effective in reaching students that he was killed, murdered, assassinated on a college campus in Utah. (The assassination scenario is eerily similar to the one that involved President Trump in Pennsylvania a little over a year ago.)
The assassin, who is yet to be identified, shot Charlie Kirk from the top of a building about 200 yards away. The shot was deadly. (Anyone who saw the video quickly realized the injury created was terminal. A literal river of blood flowed out of the wound in his neck as he collapsed over backwards.)
The FBI questioned and released some initial suspects. With further investigation, the FBI discovered a bolt-action rifle and ammunition. Per reports, the murder weapon had both transgender and antifa writings on it. This more than suggests that the motive of the assassination was political. (Notably, these violent ideologies are perverse and anti-American.) The assassin apparently left fingerprint evidence, so barring something bizarre he will be caught. Utah has the death penalty available. The Governor has indicated that will be applied to the assassin.
At a national level, people on the right have condemned this violence in no uncertain terms. Conversely and perversely, many on the left have cheered it. Some question whether this is the culmination of decades of Democrat attacks, both verbally and physically, on Republican opponents. Not surprisingly, the Democrats have said it is all the fault of Republicans. (The problem the Democrats have is that all the assassination attempts and mass school shootings have Democrat bloody fingerprints on them. Even the murder of Iryna Zarutska has Democrat lax crime enforcement and “excuse the murderer” fingerprints on it.)
Normal people want to live their lives in safety and comfort. Unfortunately, it appears that the Democrats will not accept this premise unless it is on their Marxist terms. These terms, however, require rejection of the constitutional foundation of America and the rule of law. This cannot be allowed or accepted.
My fundamental question is “how do I walk down the streets knowing that I might be confronted at any time by this leftist lunacy?” Is being armed at all times necessary? Is a violent fight for liberty between America’s citizens the only way forward? I am not sure where we go from here. Maybe a million Charlie Kirks is the answer.
Note: President Trump has indicated that Charlie Kirk will be given the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He also indicated that the hand of justice is coming.
