Ed Gillespie won the weighted vote at the convention just a whisker under 61%, Shak Hill had 37.64%, and the other two candidates received about 1.5%. Shak did very well for a candidate who was largely unknown across the state with almost no funding. Some of his voters in the 7th district stayed home to work for Dave Brat whose primary against Eric Cantor is on Tuesday. With their votes Shak’s final percentage may have been another point higher.

I hope Ms. Martin can defend the freedoms the local Loudoun establishment wish to destroy. They need a clean sweep and to elect the non-career politician including current one-termers.
Gillespie wins, now we have our choice between a Liberal Democrat and a Liberal Republican. WOW, what choices. Just more of the same ole same ole, business as usual. And you cant seem to figure out why the Republicans keep loosing elections. Its because you keep putting Democrat Lite candidates up. Might as well just make one party, the Republocrats, because there isnt enough of a difference between the two now to make a difference.
I guess not enough conservatives thought there was a sufficient difference between Shak and Ed to send enough support to Roanoke to change it.
One thing about my fellow Tea Party, movement conservatives, which bothers me. They complain incessantly about all of the money being with the establishment, but these grass roots folks rarely open up their pocketbooks. If Shak had been able to raise $150,000, we could have won that convention.
Rest of grassroots needs to figure out how Ron Paul became the first politician to raise $1mil in a single day online. Leveraging technology is crucial.
The money would have been nice, but more conservatives at mass meetings, and more at Roanoke, would have turned the tide.
Proud of the Fifth District, the only district in the state to give Shak a majority. Contrary to the thoughts of some after the 5th District convention, our 5th District conservative movement ain’t dead yet!
Ashamed of the 10th. I guess we sent too much pragmatism to Roanoke. But we deserve the nominee we elect, and now it’s up to us to help Ed channel his inner, newer, conservative.
What is truly remarkable is that Gillespie won the 7th district by only ONE raw vote – in Cantor country. Wow!
Shows just how badly Cantors YG Virginia has wrecked their marriage in their home district.
Proud to be in the 5th District where we voted for a REPUBLICAN!
