Rachel Maddow of MSNBC has been bragging she has the President’s tax returns from 2005 but the President scooped her big story by releasing the tax returns on Tuesday before her show.
In 2005 President Trump made $150 million and paid $38 million in taxes. Works for me.
From the White House:
“You know you are desperate for rating when you are willing to violate the law to push a story about two pages of tax returns from over a decade ago,” the statement read. “Despite this substantial income figure and tax paid, it is totally illegal to steal and publish tax returns. The dishonest media can continue to make this part of their agenda, while the President will focus on his, which includes tax reform that will benefit all Americans.

“Before being elected President, Mr. Trump was one of the most successful businessmen in the world with a responsibility to his company, his family and his employees to pya no more tax than legally required,” the White House said. “That being said, Mr. Trump paid $38 million dollars even after taking into account large scale depreciation for construction, on an income of more than $150 million dollars, as well as paying tens of millions of dollars in other taxes such as sales and excise taxes and employment taxes and this illegally published return proves just that.”
The White House also said Trump had a responsibility “to pay no more tax than legally required.” Exactly.
Don’t you love it when Trump takes the wind out of the sails of leftists like Rachel Maddow and MSNBC who illegally obtained Trump’s income tax returns from 12 years ago?

NOW certainly, we must see ALL the past tax returns from 2005 onward! Including 2016! Mustn’t we?
A former Republican congressman from Florida seems to have the most logical claim,

Is it possible that The Donald set the Madcow up ???? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/70436537fbf88656109353482006891f941cb1ec7c89f63420453850fd88c099.jpg
Wait., you acknowledge that Trump released the return but you include the attack from Trump that publishing them was illegal – nonsense!!! – first, if Trump released them, he expects the media to post them. Second, the media can print them even if he had not released them
You try to have it both ways and you fail three times –
They’re his taxes, he can release them when HE wants. Somebody stealing and releasing personal information is not acceptable.
Where do YOU draw the line?
Publishing them is not a crime. And no one stole them. He sent them to the press
???
Allow me to answer your question. SD hasn’t bothered to actually deal with the reality of theft here. What did the investigative journalist who gave the info to Maddow say – it showed up in my mail box. Thus, it was stolen and delivered to someone who is radically anti-Trump. Who knows when this info was actually given to the investigative journalist or even Maddow. It could have been days or even months ago and saved for their purposes.
Jeanine writes above that Trump released the return – I am simply challenging her contradicting statements
You are left with defending the bufoon – guess what that does to you
He released the returns AFTER Maddow said she had stolen copies and was going to go on the air with them. Again, why is this so difficult for you? You aren’t usually this dense.
Yes, they were stolen. MSNBC had the returns before Trump released them. Why is this so difficult for you to comprehend? Are you purposely being obtuse?
SD simply provokes. There is no line he is willing to accept when it comes to Trump. The tax information was stolen so Trump decided to beat the news cycle. Somebody in the IRS or maybe even Obama and his henchmen took this action at this time. Trump beat them to the punch.
Libs will come up with a way to say that Trump cheated by not paying more than his fair share. And the 40% of the country who believes their Bovine Scatology will accept it.
Obama paid a much lower percentage.
Candidate Trump cited the audit as the reason for withholding his tax returns. That would cover his returns from no farther back than 2010. So his 2005 returns were never subject to audit. This return is from so far back it was when he thought groping women was cool — an event his supporters wrote off as prehistoric. He could have released these docents during the campaign. But he only released them to maintain control of the theater that keeps so many people distracted.
And we’re so caught up in hating MSNBC that we can’t see we’ve built a world in which 2005 is relevant for accounting but not for personal conduct.
Nice one, folks, you’ve become con man and mark, all in one.
Such Trump hate… let it go.
I don’t know about you, but my tax returns are personal to me. They reflect my good and bad decisions over the years. Interestingly, I am only supposed to keep taxes back 7 years (now 3 years?) for audit purposes so how is it possible that someone has Trump’s returns back to 2005 – is the IRS keeping files that long? if so, they should have been archived long ago. I can only hope this deep state abuse ends in prison time for some folks. As someone who worked in the federal government, I saw folks who represented both side of the political spectrum but never saw anyone abuse their position to leak information in this manner. This is an entirely new and very dangerous situation that demands the firing and imprisonment of abusers. If this is not stopped, then the entire federal government will be brought to a halt by distrust. When the bureaucrats are as bad as the political appointees, then there is no government only chaos.
As far as personal conduct, we have as paragons of virtue such individuals as Bill Clinton, John F. Kennedy and Barrack Obama. LBJ might have been even worse. So far, Jimmy Carter is the most honest of the Democrat candidates and he failed miserably in the presidency.
I’d be willing to bet Trump keeps his returns back to 2005. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he was responsible for their leak to MSNBC. The man has a penchant for melodrama.
You left out the paragon of virtue who started the tradition of sharing tax returns — Richard Nixon. His returns revealed he underpayed (cheated?) on his taxes. Inadvertently, he proved the utility to the voter of candidates’ disclosure of tax info.
And that’s really the point. MSNBC ultimately shouldn’t matter to us. If we feel candidate tax returns are useful, we should be focused on seeing them — recent ones, preferably. If not, we should be discussing subjects of substance, like the budget, for example. Either way, focusing on MSNBC is a wasteful distraction.
Sure. Trump suddenly decided that it would be a good idea to give everyone a look at his 2005 returns. After all, those are utterly critical today. You sound like that woman on Tucker Carlson’s show who made a similar statement and when confronted with the reality babbled like an idiot. I don’t ignore the theft of personal property, which is exactly what MSNBC did, simply to chortle for political convenience. The idea of an active deep state conspiracy against any president is cause for great concern because the very purpose of a rule of law government is being damaged if not destroyed.
One thing I agree with – focusing on out of control spending and an actual budget rather than a bunch of continuing resolutions is essential. We have operated the federal government for far too long on such resolutions and it has led us to a $20T debt and a bunch of welfare state programs that totally skew the foundation of individual liberty. You have a right to pursue happiness. You do not have a right to be given happiness without doing anything.
Someone with Trump’s extensive business dealings would be advised to keep returns going back. Losses are carried forward from year to year, assets are depreciated, etc. His is not be an ordinary return.
You people are hilarious!

President Trump continually destroys the libs & MSM. It’s a pleasure to watch.
The blemishes on the NBC brand has been a drip, drip, drip scenario for well over a decade. The instances of deceptive tape editing from staged footage, to the 911 Zimmerman tape are just some of the most egregious examples at the Network level. At some of the local stations, fairly recent graduates from prestigious J schools with zero actual world experience, were hired as news producers making daily decisions on what would, or would not, be covered. Now that once influential organizations is just another slot on the organization chart at Comcast. What a pity.
